    A different Kenmore range

It makes me wonder if the lower oven fronts are actually real wood, perhaps to match the cabinets of the kitchen it was in originally? Sort of like matching cabinet front panels on high-end dishwashers and refrigerators? And if that is the case, how did they keep the wood from drying out or...

perfect chess pie every time, easy.

My attempt at Chess Pie It came out pretty well, using Kevin's blender recipe. I use frozen pre-made pie crusts because I'm too lazy to roll my own. What I normally do when baking pies, and did in this case, is to place strips of foil around the outer edge of the pie crust, to keep it from...

Storm Night... What do you do ???

Storm night here has been like every other night, this winter. Here is a recent supper, tuna noodle casserole, baked in my Flamingo Pink Fiesta casserole dish.

    New Washer

Looks like a nice one! It appears to have every option I'd like to have in a front-loader. The options for spin speed are interesting. I suppose a person would choose a lower spin speed if washing something that might go out of balance?

1970s San Antonio house well preseerved

It is interesting that this house was built at a time when people still felt they needed a formal living room, or parlor, for company. If I owned this house, I'd be tempted to turn that area into a home office, perhaps separated from the rest of the house with french doors.

1970s San Antonio house well preseerved

This must be located in a nice part of San Antonio, given the size of the house and the many upscale features.

MY choice for a steel kitchen!!

The tricky part about re-using vintage cabinets is that every kitchen seems to have its own unique layout. Maybe there is a clever kitchen designer out there who could figure out how to incorporate cabinets from one layout to a different one. If you needed infill cabinets, for example, I'm...

    Top Loader suggestion

You may have already made your purchase by now, but if not, one consideration that might be important to you regards who will service your machines if they need work. Do you have a trusted appliance repair shop you've used in the past and would like to continue using? If so, I'd check with them...

New Frigidaire FFFS5115 Washer: Way to downgrade, Frigidaire!

I wonder if the parent company (I'm assuming it's still Electrolux?) is trying to create a bigger differentiation between the Frigidaire line and the Electrolux line. In other words, if you want those missing features, and like Frigidaire washers, they want to direct you to Electrolux washers...

Need help with front loader not fitting into house

Congrats! I was looking at the newer-model Frigidaire front-loaders before I purchased my older-model Kenmore. We would enjoy seeing photos, and let us know how you like them once you've had a chance to give them a spin.

Need help with front loader not fitting into house

The overall height of these Frigidaire/Kenmore/GE front-loaders is shorter than many of the newer machines. In addition to the depth of the machine, the height might make a difference in getting it downstairs. Here is a photo of the one I bought at a Sears Outlet a few months back, and you can...

Now, This is a typical day for a Chef or Cook

My first real job was in a small Italian deli/restaurant. My job was more busboy/dishwasher than cook, although we sometimes had to do small jobs like chopping garlic. (The lady chefs were certain that if they were chopping garlic and accidentally cut themselves, they would get poisoned and...

    Roma detergent review

I tried a K-Mart detergent from Mexico a couple of years ago, I think it was called Blanca Nueva or something similar. It had phosphates. While it worked in the front-loader, it produced way too many suds when used in an adequate quantity required to clean clothes. I had to knock the suds down...

Awesome LED lamp deal from HD

The problem I have with some of these high-tech bulbs is their hit-or-miss life span. If they fail early, then you have to deal with the warranty. The store won't do a return after their return period ends, which means contacting the manufacturer. I remember an expensive CFL (styled and sized...

    Fishy C/L Add

I've been wondering about Craigslist ads where the seller imprints an email address directly on top of the photo of the item being sold. They seem to want to circumvent using Craigslist's email system. There are quite a few of these I've run across in Craigslist ads, and I'm beginning to think...

    Older Lady Kenmore dryer Baltimore

Would that be the original owner's manual sitting on top of the dryer? Those don't often survive or stay with the appliance after 53 years. Whatever it is, it has a cartoonish-look to it.
