Questions about a Whirlpool PORTABLE Washing Machine

Hi all, this portable Whirlpool washer popped up on Facebook Marketplace near me for $100. The lady selling it is going to send me more pics of it tomorrow. What can you guys tell me about this machine? Rough age, belt drive or direct drive, pros/cons, etc.

    Sharp Microwaves

My mother has a black Sharp Carousel microwave that was purchased brand new in 1998 that's still running like brand new. I have a Frigidaire microwave that I bought last year and while it's not nearly as good quality as the Sharp, it works well enough.

    Toast R Ovens

I was lucky enough to find a NIB Montgomery Wards (Proctor-Silex) toaster oven last year and absolutely love it. But for current market appliances, I'll throw in another vote for Breville or Cuisinart.

    "Iceberg Dead Ahead!"

I have a simple top freezer stainless steel Frigidaire with no ice maker, no dispensers, no bells or whistles. It was a bargain purchase at a closing Sears store last year and I have nothing but good things to say about it. It looks nice, it keeps everything ice cold, and it's damn near silent.

Unusual Maytag Washer / Hotpoint Dryer $225 (Phoenix, AZ)

Definitely an early 90s washer. I have a similar but higher end model to that. It has the short stroke orbital transmission, but still a true Maytag. Excellent performer.

    Married...With Children Kitchen Appliances

Has the Bundy's kitchen ever been discussed? I'm trying to figure out what their appliances were. The avocado green dryer in the background kinda looks like a Kenmore to me, but what are the fridge and dishwasher?

    How Is Everyone Keeping Warm?

Keeping warm with a vintage Sears electric blanket, an ancient natural gas boiler with enormous cast iron radiators, and a big mug of hot chocolate.

Trimming the tree at my house means something different...

Looks beautiful! If you don't mind my asking, what sort of vacuum do you use? Hopefully something suitably vintage!

Your dishwasher: What's best? a dirty load going in, or a clean load coming out?

I'm not wild about loading the dishwasher.....but I HATE unloading it and putting the dishes away. The ONLY part about owning a dishwasher that puts a spring in my step and a smile on my face is knowing that I don't have to scrub, rinse, or dry another skanky nasty plate again. I do have some...

Attention K-Mart Shoppers - Archive of Store Music

Our last local K-Mart store is closing in January. One already closed earlier this year. It makes me kinda sad, as many of the things I and my family have owned over the years were purchased at K-Mart. Most of my Christmas decorations that I purchased this year were purchased at the closing...

    Today's Dishwasher POD

Lawrence hits the nail on the head. A good portable dishwasher is better than no dishwasher at all! I haven't a single complaint about my portable GE Potscrubber. It's from March of 2000 and its wash platform is based on the GSD-1200 and higher machines from the late 80s. It's also the TOL of...

    Free 1987 Filter Flo pair!

What beautiful machines! I hope they find a wonderful home where they will continue to provide years of service. If only I had the room....

    Antique/Vintage Electric Fan Wanted

Thrift stores here rarely sell electric anything and NEVER have anything that old. They see old or used electrical items as safety hazards. Yard sales/estate sales are also pretty barren for anything earlier than the 70s. A huge portion of this area was wiped out by the flood of '72 brought on...

    Antique/Vintage Electric Fan Wanted

I've got my grandmother's Lasko, which looks very similar to the Galaxy in the second pic you posted.

Cole, they seem to be every bit as eccentric and passionate as we are on this site!

    Antique/Vintage Electric Fan Wanted

Hello all! I'm looking to acquire a vintage oscillating table fan, 12 or 16 inch preferred. Main brands of interest are G.E. and Westinghouse. Yes, they're all over eBay, but the prices are usually ridiculous and the fans that are reasonably priced are usually in need of much more...

    Top Loader Extra Rinse?

No rinsing issues on my Maytag LAT7793, but you should have seen the suds cake that would appear in that machine the first time a load was put in there that had last been washed in our old DD Whirlpool. And yes, the extra rinse was almost always employed on the Whirlpool. The Maytag does a...

    Vintage vs Modern Refrigerator-Freezers

I have a higher end stainless steel Frigidaire top freezer model that I bought earlier this year. It's very quiet when it runs and I don't recall hearing any obtrusive noises when it does its self defrost thing. The capacity is wonderful and IT. IS. COLD.

Detergents Update: What are you using?

My everyday detergent is Tide HE Turbo Powder, Original Scent. It performs beautifully in my old school top loader but also does equally well in the front loaders I've used at the laundromat for heavy loads. My mother prefers Tide "Original" liquid, so there is always a jug of that sitting on...

    Favorite Vintage Appliance Designs?

Another vote to the center dial Maytag... Ralph has already said everything that I would want to about the timeless and iconic design of the center dial Maytag washing machine. Simple, reliable, and built to last several lifetimes. Scads of them still washing load after load to this very day...
