Man starts fire drying his laundry in the microwave

Those Crazy Empoloyees! I witnessed 2 incidents of microwave abuse by other staff members when I was a waiter for Denny's in the 80's. The pancake syrup used to come in gallon waxed and paper cartons that were lined inside with aluminum. Package clearly stated on 3 areas of the carton "DO...

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Three

I Don't Know... I'm sure it's still done all over, but coffee with a Swanson TV dinner just doesn't seem all that grand. I'd rather have a glass of milk instead.

    POTD 08/02/12 Another Nostalgia Trip

I don't know if that picture has been posted before (and I might've missed it), but a big memory wave rushed over me when I saw it. I remember the cigar boxes we had for Royal Stamps (purple in color), S&H (green, of course) and Gold Bond (a yellowish brown). Every few months we'd commence in...

    Bewitched

I've always wondered what the purpose was with the pseudo fireplace next to the stove. Perhaps merely decoration?

    Tide Pods

NO! Items like these always make me wonder if enough detergent is added in the dose to get laundry really clean. The water in my area is quite hard.

The mother of a friend always used Hormel Lard to cook and bake. He tried to get her to switch to shortening, but she refused.

    Wow...what a deal!

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but there's quite a few GE threads today.

GE ads from 1964 GE Fantasy Hour (YouTube)

Ah, The 60's. This was fun to watch, and sure brought back quite a few memories. My sister had the same hair dryer (but in a plain case instead of the decorative one that was shown) We also had the electric knife and iron (If I remember correctly, the knife we had was 2 speeds). Why aren't...

Tide Plus Bleach Alternative name change

I also noticed the name change a few days ago. There was also a color-safe bleach by Texize that came out in the early to mid-70's called "Vivid". It was in a yellow bottle. The slogan for it was "don't just get them clean, get them Vivid". Does anyone else remember this product?

Estate Sale Find!! Lookie what Don brought home!!

I like electric clocks much more. With a majority of them, the second hand has fluid motion and doesn't do the the "tic tic tic" sound every second like battery clocks do.

    satilite tv

My TV (Philips) is 9 years old. I have a converter box along with rabbit ear antenna for it and get only 11 channels...half of which I have to stand with the antenna in my hand and do all sorts of contortionist moves to get a decent picture without it pixelating. Is there a secret or method to...

Why did they only wash on Mondays????

I seem to remember my mom washing on either Monday or Tuesday using the '57 Frigidaire control tower washer (my dad worked for GM and all of our appliances were Frigidaire). Drying was done outside. Laundress, I found it rather humorous in the link you provided...a coupon for a package of free...

    Old Safety Razors anyone?

My dad was also one to use double edged Gillette blades and razor handle. I'll never forget when I was in Jr. ROTC in 1971 and an inspection was coming up. My drill Sargent recommended I shave to get rid of the "peach fuzz" my face was sporting. I decided to do this task solo, and was kinda...

Television & Movie Vehicles: Part One

In this clip, we see a rather lecherous man driving an Edsel Villager station wagon and picking up Dawn Davenport (Divine). She's rather upset over not getting her so wanted shoes with cha cha heels for Christmas.

Television & Movie Vehicles: Part One

Joe: There was also something in a book I read ages ago about "I Love Lucy" in regards to this episode. Desi Arnaz wanted one of the T-Birds to perform a certain maneuver, but the stunt drivers weren't doing it to his satisfaction. Disgruntled, he got into the car and did what he wanted done...
