The classic Hobarts just keep a-comin.

That's some serious stuff right there. I remember using the Hobarts when I worked in college, quite the machine!

What was YOUR first washing machine?

When I was born, I was only in my first house for a year and a half, and I was way too young to remember just about any of it, so I am going with what the current house has and that's our 1990 Whirlpool DD!

Sometimes you just cant win with maytag..

Where my bro used to live (2006-2010) has one of the performa models (I believe thats what it is as it has the standard looking cabinet and not the angled tops that the Atlantis's have), machine itself has been there since mid 2006. The house is now leased and he is the landlord. The renters are...

    GE Recalls 1.3 Million Dishwashers

Last time I remember GE having a dishwasher recall was right around when we got our Triton XL. (2002) though I dont remember if it was only those models.

    NEW Fisher & Paykel Washers

They have to be designing those DA type agitators pretty badly if stuff is getting torn. (though, these days, anything is possible) I've never used an orbital Maytag with the DA agitator though, and most of you already know of my nothing-but-positive experiences with the DD DA agitators. All...

Man starts fire drying his laundry in the microwave

I have heard about that water thing, but I thought that was only with distilled water.

Heads Up! Nice GE Potscrubber's for Sale

I love those dishwashers, I still miss the one we had. I don't know if I am in the minority here, but I love appliances that make noise.

SPEED QUEEN PREVIEWS THEIR NEW CONTROL PANELS FOR THEIR TOP LOAD WASHERS!!!

So even they have to go with electronics now? Sad, just sad...... Looks I will be trying to stay with the used market. Anyway, if I had to choose, it would be 3. [this post was last edited: 7/31/2012-17:18]

Is Stainless Still King of the Kitchen?

I am okay with stainless steel on some things, especially the sink, but I so do not follow the whole EVERYTHING in the kitchen has to be it. One thing I noticed with white kitchen appliances over the years is that if it is white, it is ALL white, I'm okay with white appliances but not how they...

    Killing Off a FL Machine

Wait, Wait, your machine actually has to use water at all? how horrible you are!!

    Kenmore 80 Series

Space under agitator fins. From what I have seen and heard, I believe it was done because it reduces drag.

    Kenmore 80 Series

Out of Balance. Our DD has gone out of balance three times in its life, and by unbalanced, I mean the tub hitting the cabinet. Even after all that, still works like a charm.

    Kenmore 80 Series

To be clear. I am NOT saying the machine cannot possibly do that, I'm just saying it require the right use (I cant think of other ways of saying that). I'm not sure why you have had damage to fabrics while I have not. Maybe our machine being a 3-speed has something to do with it, I don't know...

    Kenmore 80 Series

The term Shredmore is pure nonsense Unless you don't know how to use it properly. I have been using our DD washer since I was in late elementary school, and have never once experienced clothing damage. As long as you use the correct cycle for the fabric, and don't overload it, everything will...

    Old Whirlpool machines

Wow, that's a spin-drain direct drive, those certainly aren't too common.

Which washing action with what kind of load works best?

Well, I think something bulky like a bed comforter would be best in a big commercial FL. As for a specific type of fabric? your guess is as good as mine. But for anything like regular clothing, nothing, in my experience has beat agitator TLs. I've mainly used Whirlpool DDs and Orbital Maytags...
