    Need an update from Venus

Oh Venus Lucky Gal, getting that stove. I had one the first time I was married in coppertone with matching single door pick defrost fridge. It was in an apartment. The 30 inch stove which I think was a 67 model was the best electric stove I ever used. If you haven't done Frigidaire before, I...

    WP Flatware in door re-visited

I agree Peter I had 3 WP dishwashers over a 20 year period from moving around and I never had any problem with the flatware basket on the door. Occasionally a dirty spoon or other, but not any more often than any other machine I've used. Maybe its the water or pressure or something like that...

    Dishwasher

God, I never knew Norge had a dishwasher That's interesting. Looks exactly like a Wards Sig I remember in the store about 1966 or 67. Tried to get my mom to buy it-but to no avail. Life wasn't meant for funLOL!

    Vintage Aoutmobile Commercials

Jaune 1963 Chevy pickup with 6 cylinder-I can still hear that beautiful stright six engine whine in second gear. Learned stick on a 59 Chevy Belair-columm shift-on a 4 door hardtop;strange combination indeed. Can still hear that 6.

    Vintage Aoutmobile Commercials

nevertheless The Corvair was still a great car, loads of fun, I did know 2 teens who experienced the problem and were killed tragically, and Ralph's book was written in 1967. The corvair was maybe a little too different like the betamax VCR and the GM Frigidaire washer. People like familiarity...

    Vintage Aoutmobile Commercials

Chevrolet Corvair I owned 2 of these in high school-both 65' models. Both 4 speed Monzas. This was the redesign from the 60 to 64 models which became "unsafe at any speed". The 65 was great to drive-sharp handling and the engine never missed a beat-air cooled at that. 2 things that I and most...

    Cookware

(cast) iron and (stainless) steel I have some original pieces of "Descoware" which belonged to my mother. She bought them around 1960 when their popularity was at its peak. Very similar to LeCruset. Also someone mentioned "Flintware"-have these been discontinued? I liked them especially the...

    Vintage Aoutmobile Commercials

The Cartwrights I once saw a clip of the Bonanza cast doing an ad at the end of a Bonanza episode for chevy I think it was 1965. This was a commercial documentary on television. Little Joe, Hoss, Adam and Ben were all cruisin' down the main drag of "Virginia City" in Chevy II, Chevelle, a...

    vintage wall oven

You can be sure its Westinghouse I have seen quite a few of these in this locale. Like the contractors put these in a lot of kitchens. Even some without a window, but all Westinghouse. Unfortunately, many have disappeared due to remodeling. But that hasn't been too many years ago-these ovens...

    Just What Every Kitchen Wants

Bob In answer to your question about the 3 steel drawers, I believe they are crispers. That's what they were on my great aunt Frances' gas doughboy. To keep cereal and crackers and such in. I guess they keep them warm and dry. Her oven was also chrome rather than porcelain and had a pilot. One...

    Cookware

Just wanted to find out from everyone what their favorite cookware is and why. Mine is calphalon I like the aluminum even heating and the easy clean up of the coating. In addition the thickness is good. Also I like cast-iron skillets and vision ware (although neither heats very evenly). I have a...

And Now For Something Totally Different

Yes the heat is nice during the winter and on a day like today as it turned cold on us. Truly, I have heard before ELECTRIC-good for baking pies cakes cookies bread. The dry heat makes for greater evenness in pastry. GAS-the moist heat of gas roasts meats well and keeps cuts juicy and tender...

    HIGH SPEED EXTRACTOR

Extractors I've used one before and yes, they are quite dangerous. Very effective. I worked in a gym washing towels and gym clothes at a college. Bolted down and loud! yeah baby, but you know it was a first class machine. I don't recall the large front loader being a spinning machine-just...
