    Stove and Fridge

Thanks for all the comments After I read all of your comments I have to say I had reservations about leaving them. The guy that I have rented the house to is very cool. His parents are the neighbor across the street and were very good friends with my parents for the past 30 years. I talked...

    Stove and Fridge

Cleaning out my Mom's house she has a stove and fridge in an apartment in the basement that from what I remember belonged to my Grandmother. Dream machine?

Ashamed to say... Back in the mid 70s I bought a mint condition Unimatic from probally 1950's that I used for a very short time and didn't care for it. I think I paid $25 for it and while I was intrigued with the entire machine I didn't appriciate it like I would today. I sold it for like $20...

I work at home 3 days a week and my biggest problem I leave the tv on the food network and seem to hear everything from Barefoot Contesa to Sandra Lee to Rachel Ray makes and then for some reason find myself making a grocery list and heading to the store to make something I have seen that day...

Thanks Geoff... I love that agitator... Stan: This was my mother's machine from probally around 1972 and that was an "upgrade" when they bought it was to have the agitator with the lint filter. These were mostly in the automatic machines. She used this for about 3 years and then they got a...

Maytag wringer EMERGENCY - please respond

I agree with Ted... something is plugged up... it would drain without the pump if the hose is lowered. Remove the agitator and the screen plate and see if something is blocking the drain hole. You might have to use a bucket to dip some of the water out first.

How to make clothesline clothes softer

My Mom hung clothes out side all the time and never put them in the dryer first. For many years she used a wringer and would put the clothes right on the line from the rinse tub and thru the wringer. All year... as long as it didn't rain (wash day was based on the weather) and it was so neat...

    Wringer Washers for Dummies

I agree that 30 minutes is excessive. But thats what my Grandmother did...especially with the heavily solied ones like the sheets and whites and demin. They washed while she did the rinsing and hanging and I guess that took about 30 minutes. Her machine (Maytag that I have and use today)...

    Wringer Washers for Dummies

OMG I would be in heaven!! I love my wringers! My favorite would be a Kenmore Vista with a roto swirl agitator and the big open wringer. I would separate the 100 pounds into loads...sheets, whites, towels, light colors, dark colors, etc... Back the machine up to the sinks and fill it up...
