Window fans, do you use them in the cooler months?

I used to keep my Robbins&Myers "Whole House" window fan in the back room window. That thing could quietly change the house air in minutes!.... on LOW speed too! I'd put it on "exhaust" and let it pull in outside air through every open window in the house. But it now sits on the floor, unused...

Hobart Presents: The KitchenAid Energy Saver V Dishwashers - 16mm Film

Indeed!.... that crap's enough to nut your brains if you let it! I've read SO much bullcrap on the internet since I first got a computer in the 1990s - and I knew back then that there were opinionated mental cases coming out of the woodwork trying to spread crap.

    I turned on my Furnace

Yes it's always good to confirm proper operation beforehand. Usually in mid October I'll check and bleed the radiators in to bleed any air out, then give the system a test run. I also put fresh AA batteries in the thermostat as part of the procedure. On occasion, I'll pull the burner access...

    I turned on my Furnace

Luckily, my home furnace is a hydronic system - hot water to the radiators in the house. The Crown boiler was installed in 2002 a few years before I moved in, and has been great. The only barely noticable sound from it when running is the Taco circulation pump. No filters to worry about. ;)

Hobart Presents: The KitchenAid Energy Saver V Dishwashers - 16mm Film

Well-stated Chet! A person, preferrably one with a properly Functioning Brain, has to wonder why this recent widespread torrent of Misinformation, Lies, Double Standards, is becoming the norm in recent times. It's also quite obvious to me and others that something's up, something's going on...

Hobart Presents: The KitchenAid Energy Saver V Dishwashers - 16mm Film

About that A.I. generated stuff that was mentioned here....... Which, I might add, is just another tool that's on its way to being abused for criminal purposes..... There's currently an annoying tv commercial that instills Fear into vulnerable viewers. It concerns home equity theft. - the SHADY...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Resurecting this thread, I heard a song today that brought back memories to me. It actually brought tears to my eyes as I imagined my younger days, living at home.... My mom used to put it on the console stereo once in a while and sit me on her knee and rocked me, to sing it to me. The lyrics of...

Blackstone Prices from 50 Years Ago

I've wondered how much my A482 Maytag washer costed originally. The Owners manual that I have is dated 1985 The best I could find out was an old newspaper ad listing for it stating $449.

Now they went and changed Ivory soap

Indeed, that makes sense. When I got older and started to stand, and walk, granny would put me into the bathtub to bathe me, along with the well-known toys like the rubber ducky, boats, etc. I vaguely remember those days too.

So if one had to buy a washing machine

I suspect that the internet helps those things along too, you can add that convenience to the list. I didn't want to touch on religion, it's a sore subject, offensive to some. And It's one reason why people are conditioned without them really knowing it. ;)

So if one had to buy a washing machine

I tend to agree. But in my experience on a magnitude of websites, the comments sometimes sway to controversial topics. I go with the flow with caution. Besides, it's only temprary in most cases.

So if one had to buy a washing machine

My Two Cents: As an independent-thinking, open-minded individual, having seen, heard, and experienced many things in my 7+ decades of life, and I have to say that a person's beliefs are basically nurtured by years of conditioning, training, etc. This comes from others, mentors, groups, with a...

Check for any rust spots on the racks. - they can be touched up with JB Weld, Check underneath for any signs of leakage stains, and insure the hose clamps are snug. If possible, hook it up in the garage with a temp water line and give it a cycle, observing underneath for leaks and any strange...

So if one had to buy a washing machine

My average daily water useage is about 50 gallons a day. That's including washing dishes, flushing the toilets, general cleaning, and occasional watering of the garden. That once-a-week or so of running my Maytag, of course it adds to the useage, but that's trivial and I refuse to let it make my...

So if one had to buy a washing machine

That's counterproductive actually, you're being controlled, and at the mercy of corporations.... again, think about corporate greed, and you being dependent on needing such an appliance. Add to that, sly marketing tactics, and the continued overload of advertizing "upgrades". - it's like an evil...
