    plumbing question

some answers Toggles: The hot water side is not capped off nor is there a Y connector. No water drips out of the hot side when the machine is set to cold fill, which it is at present. alr2903: I might just do what you suggested. I do plan on living here for several years. Thanks for...

    plumbing question

The washer in my new house is the landlord's (I'm thinking as long as he's ok with it I'm going to replace it with a Speed Queen) and it's a Roper. It doesn't have the Cruel Action agitator but it does have a very fast short stroke. It does the crappy neutral drain. The problem is, for some...

    Lou Loves the Kaiser!

modern version? I wonder if a modern version of this could be made. Say, add a recirculating pump, filter, and heating element of some kind. I think that'd be cool. It'd offer you more advanced features but still completely manual control.

    Briefs or Boxers

Ok, I'll bite Just regular briefs..a few 'boxer briefs.' Mostly I'll wear Fruit of the Loom. Enjoy "tightie colors" not tightie whities myself. Though almost all of my friends wear boxers, I can't stand the..um...movement and lack of support. Also I hate how they ride up.

    Lehman's re-con wringers

I see on Lehman's website they offer reconditioned Maytag wringers for sale. I'm wondering if anyone's ever taken them up on this offer or know someone who has. I'm considering getting one. Any info is appreciated.

    Help!

perhaps some background info.. When I moved in here the washer and dryer were here. I technically did not buy them. If I asked to take them, my current landlord's likely to want me to buy them (probably), since a previous renter left them here. (all units do not come with them).

    Help!

Yes of course I know the landlord well and would not deliberately break it. Perhaps this is my opportunity to snag the '50s Maytag wringer in my aunt's (recently deceased) parents. My grandparents and they knew each other well and would probably want someone to get use of it. She babied it so...

    Help!

I'm moving into a new place soon and will lose my beloved Filter Flo washer. *moment of silence* (you'll soon learn why) Tragically, I'm fairly certain the new place which I love in every way has one major flaw: a Roper washer [which probably has the infamous Shredmore-esque agitator and crappy...

in the market for a new washer & dishwaser

So... Outside of the price range of the Speed Queen's, which I'd get if I could, and excluding front loaders, what 'regular' top loaders do you guys/gals recommend? What won't destroy my clothing but also get it clean without falling apart in 3 years. Thanks!

in the market for a new washer & dishwaser

So, what do you recommend? Other than the SQ... Washers that are beneath the SQ's price range in particular. I realize this probably disqualifies most if not all front loaders, but I'm not totally dedicated to toploaders. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    roto rack

impeller machine with a filter? I'm wondering if it would be that hard to have an impeller machine that filters the water? Sort of like a filter flo where there's always enough water to wash the dishes but at the same time it's actively being pumped through a filter. Think this would work or am...

in the market for a new washer & dishwaser

I think I'll be in the market for a new washer and dishwasher in the near future. I'd like to get the top of the line Speed Queen, but am a bit taken back by the price (though I know it's worth it). So, my question is: among toploaders, other than the SQ, what do you recommend? Also, I'm...

    washing pillows

Recently tried to wash 2 twin size pillows in my FilterFlo, only to confirm what I was thinking to be true, i.e. the FilterFlo simply was not up the task at all. The spinning went very much out of balance and I ended up just throwing the pillows away. I knew they'd get lumpy but I tried to...

    Wringer-Flo?

Here's my idea for a "Wringer-Flo": Take a wringer washer with a pump. Place a nylon mesh material (pantyhose) over the drain hose end. Place hose so water is redirected back into the tub. Now, will this work? Would the pump motor be damaged/destroyed as it's not designed to run like this...
