GM Makes A Strange Washing Machine

It's the internet age... Someone finds a picture of something, reads part of an article and presto! They are now an expert with a paid YouTube channel. I wish I'd kept some of the blindingly stupid comments other 'experts' had made about vintage appliances in FB groups.

    queen dishwasher

It looks very D&M.... I'd guess late 1970s. That cutlery basket reminds me of D&M built Admiral I had very, very briefly.

    Restored 1956 Whirlpool dryer

I still have my 56 Whirlpool Imperial washer and dryer set! They are not in active service at the moment, but I hope that I'll rotate them in for the 2025 season.

Taking a Count of Who Wants Frigidaire 3-Ring Agitator Parts and possibly Norge Boot

I'll also message you about this, but please put me down for a yellow Lint Chaser and and coral pink Circulator rings as well as a Norge tub boot. Although I adapted a VW u-joint boot for the 55 Norge it was something of beeyatch to seat properly and I just KNOW it'll give at some point...

WANTED: 1959 Frigidaire Refrigerator for Henry Ford Museum

Too bad I'm in Canada.... I have an unrestored set of a Sunny Yellow 1959 Custom Imperial 30-inch range and an Imperial Frost-Proof bottom-freezer refrigerator! I could use the $$$ too... I'm kinda broke as the 1958 Cadillac restorations limp on AND I'm stuck with a couple of machines that...

    Retrofitting/Modernizing a Vintage Refrigerator

I had no choice but to replace the compressor in my 1956 GE wall refrigerator when it failed for the 2nd time in late 2022. I did not do the restoration work myself, but I know that an Embraco compressor using R134 was installed to replace the original one. Nearly 2 years later, all has been fine!

    Recent Findings

Definitely the 53 or 54 model.  I have the still-unrestored WA450K washer that would pair up nicely with this...

Reproduction Rubber Kenmore Scrubber Caps and GE Filter-Flo Mounts now Available

Grey filter flo mount Robert, I had often wondered if it been used on the Canadian machines, but although mine has Canadian General Electric on the model tag, it came out of Appliance Park.  GE didn't start producing washers and dryers in Canada until late 1958.   Perhaps the grey support was...

    1960's Tappan Portable Dishwasher

I had to see this up close and surprise, my anti-virus flagged the site linked here as being a 'known dangerous website' so I strongly suspect this a big ol' scam....

    Westinghouse Custom Imperial WD Restoration

One of the few machines I've given up on... Wow, I had the same set a few years ago.  I put in a LOT of time and effort as well as a small fortune in replacement parts to get the washer running and I just couldn't do it.  The dryer was actually still running when I got it, but as John...

    Maytag experts, I need advice

Ken, I had a similar issue on my 1973 A407 recently.  It turned out to be the pump but here's the good news, it was saved by oiling it!   If you can see a screw in the pump body below the drain chamber, add a few drops of turbine oil (Zoom Spout) and turn the pulley a few times, add more oil...

What is going onn with my dishwasher?

Turner's Timer Repair in Scarborough, Ontario may be able to fix this.  They no longer touch mechanical timers but say they are specialists in electronic-control types.

Behold - a new, dedicated appliance workshop in Ogden, QC

It was made in Canada.  In Peterborough, Ontario back in those days I believe!

Behold - a new, dedicated appliance workshop in Ogden, QC

Tom, it's the electrical system in the Canadian model that set it apart.  There is a complete fuse block to protect the surface units, oven, and broil elements in addition to the range outlet.  Unlike the US model, the fuse block in older Frigidaire ranges was under the oven, accessible if you...

Was that Frigidaire stove a Canadian only model? Pete, yes it is.  RT-30-C, quite unlike the US models,  Built in Canada, too!

OK, turns out the door was a bit bent....  Like yours truly... LOL    BUT I wrestled it apart, managed to ease it back into shape and it seems to be opening and closing nicely now!     Now, if I'd managed to black out Southern Quebec and Vermont doing this.... LOL

Behold - a new, dedicated appliance workshop in Ogden, QC

First project I am finishing up a 1954 Canadian Frigidaire Thrifty Thirty range. This will be going to a collector friend in the US Mid-West this summer with any luck. This was an estate find, in use at the same house from the day Eaton's delivered it until the owner passed away. The oven...
