    Mid 1930s Westinghouse refrigerators?

Anyone got one or comments about same? I'm looking for a 1936-1938 model and am wondering what breaks on them. Do they still have the magnetic unloader that late, and if so is it reliable? Thanks, Chris

    1951 Westinghouse Fridge Part 2.

On all the GE's I've seen: White is Start Black is Common Red is Run. I'd expect your Westinghouse would be the same. Good luck!

Department Store Restaurant / Tea Room Recipes

Does anyone have any recipes from either the Washington or California department stores? When I was in college in Spokane, the Crescent was still a legendary memory and a friend of mine down here still waxes lyric about the Broadway and Bullocks in Los Angeles.

Since Dave said he wanted the biggest single door Monitor Top...

I already sent him the link. He emailed me and told me that someone on AW needed "to rescue it." If anyone on AW does get it, let me know because I have the two crisper drawer and can measure and photograph them for copying.

Since Dave said he wanted the biggest single door Monitor Top...

A General Electric CK-30 from about 1936. 9 cubic feet of food storage, and it weighs a lot. But you get a full porcelain cabinet outside and inside. This one is missing the two crisper drawers, but if someone here buys it, I can measure my drawers for them to copy. Enjoy...

Does anybody cook on a 1920s or 1930s gas range?

Is it acceptable to put large frying pans across two burners? I guess I'm just used to modern gas cooktops where you can have the pasta pot on the back, the sauce right in front of it, and sausages on the third burner with room to spare.

Does anybody cook on a 1920s or 1930s gas range?

Just wondering, how does one manage on those gas ranges from the 1920s and 1930s? They strike me as cramped to cook on, and I'm curious how generations of cooks managed. I snagged a pic of the sort of stove I'm referencing. Any feedback? Thanks!

    Monitor top refrigerator

And another things in a Monitor Top's favor, they cool _fast_. Sulfur dioxide is a fast working refrigerant. My machine starts frosting the evaporator within 20 minutes. Beat that modern machines!

    Monitor top refrigerator

The ice trays are modern. Shelves and a drip tray are very nice though.

    Left Coast, How are You?

It was centered near Chino Hills, CA and about 8 miles underground. I know of no fatalities or destroyed buildings. Our state was lucky this time. My family and our property are just fine, thank God.

How do I clean old not-so-white- enamel?

Now that you think about it... Its a 1936 refrigerator, so its most likely acrylic enamel. I know carmakers had phased out nitrocellulose (Duco) lacquer and gone to acrylic enamels by then. I've thought about the thinned enamel approach, but if I repaint I'd also want to bondo out the dents...

How do I clean old not-so-white- enamel?

The refrigerator is running fine, so now I get to tackle GE Glyptal enamel that has gone from bright white to whitish primer. Anyone have any tricks for reviving not so mint appliance enamel? Thanks! Chris
