    Henkel buys Aussie C/P

It will be interesting to see what happens as a result of this. I'll be very happy if we do get a version of Persil on our shelves. Although people might not be too happy if old favourites like Dynamo and Cold Power go missing from the shelves.

Article: 'Steve Jobs buys a washing machine'

Top load horizontal axis washing machines availability in Australia

I have only ever seen the Kleenmaid top loaders around. In my new house I have quite a small laundry that was configured really wrong. The washing machine is behind the door into the laundry which means that due to the small size of the laundry anyway, I have to shut myself in the laundry to get...

    Electrolux Dishmaid Dishwasher 1961

What a great piece of engineering! I can imagine any housewife blessed to own one of these would have been the talk of the street! "Er at number 23 has a Dishmaid you know, mm yes saves her hours of washing dishes so i'm told". Great to know that one is preserved and still functional! Matt

    Australian Trayway Wringer Washer

Hi Guys, On my weekly perusal of Ebay I found a pamphlet for an interesting vintage washing machine known as the Tray-way washing machine. Not your conventional machine but in fact makes use of your common Australian double laundry troughs. Reading the pamphlet you can see it was an agitator...

    UK Hotpoint 'Next Generation' Series

I love threads like these, you can really get a feel for how the technology and looks grew and developed over time. Great photo too Graham! I love how even back then people still ignored the pull strip to open the box of Persil and just ripped the top open instead!

Fisher and Paykel Washsmart Super Quick 15min Cycle.

I believe they are only available in Australia and the UK at the moment....

Fisher and Paykel Washsmart Super Quick 15min Cycle.

Hi Guys. Last week I tried out the 15 minute Super Quick cycle on my new Fisher and Paykel Washsmart washer. Made by Haier. I must say I was very impressed! The machine steps up its wash rhythm so it moves the clothes around more in the short wash phase. It then launches into the Vortex...

    S20 laundry sheets

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

Well the UK machines must be programmed differently or have different motors. Mine is silent other than when it's draining, rinses wonderfully and everything thus far has come out clean. It would be interesting to see a UK one in operation but if people buy machines based on these test reviews...

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

Yes I moved house on the weekend :-) my old rental was sold so I had no choice :-/ I've hit the F&P with a few tough loads over the past two days and it's handled them realky well. I'm very happy with it thus far so I hope it continues :-)

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

I saw the Fisher andPaykel in the stores but the Gorenje was only available onlineso could only see pictures online. So far so good with the F&P! It has wonderful Vortex spin wash sequences and great deep rinses. Very quiet too! It does like to make sure it's balanced properly before spinning...

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

Hopefully the link shows the review... I'm not sure if the ones manufactured for the UKmarket are different or not. Choice tests all of their machines on a cold water wash I believe. Anyway I will see how it goes :-)...

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

Thanks guys for the input :-D I went with the unpopular choice of the Fisher and Paykel because it scored an 80% rating in the Choice tests they do here. I know that might not hold much significance but I'm willing to give the machine the best chance possible to prove itself and maintain some...

    Fabric Softeners -

Cheryl, Ariel UK is wonderful stuff. I use it only on towels, sheets and heavy soiled kitchen linen. I got this huge box very cheap at our local uk import store as the owner had ordered too much stock and was practically giving it away!

    Fabric Softeners -

I am a fabric softener user but have stopped using P&G brand ones as I find they all tend to leave a very long strong scent which I'm not keen on. Most Aussie softeners are much less heavily scented so I use those. I have also discovered Felce Azzurra from Italy works well and leaves a wonderful...

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

HI Ingemar. Thanks for that. I have got the model your father has in my sights too as that is also available here. I could very well get that one because I do like all the features and looks quite sleek. Thanks Matt

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

Thanks for the input guys. I feel I may go down the Gorenje route or Miele. The base model of the new series Miele is not too bad at $1500 so I may get that. I was thinking I would try something different but might be very worth while going with something known to be reliable. Lets see what I...

    Gorenje or Fisher and Paykel??

Hi Guys. So myself and my partner are about to move into our new rental home. Our previous landlords decided to sell our current home so we had to made a quick decision to move. For about nine months last year my partner was out of work and we were in a pretty dire financial state. To combat...
