    Back to the Phosphate Batcave!

Sorry gang, the nonphosphate Finish powder that I raved about and was working well has by now, about a month later slowly caused chalky residues on the dishes. I will go over to Gordon Food Services down the street and get institutional Cascade powder, which is chlorinated and phosphated, much...

A question for those who use their vintage dishwashers daily.

Bob, I've tried Quantum phosphated and non phoshated and they sucked big time. The powder works MUCH better!

A question for those who use their vintage dishwashers daily.

Consider trying the non-phosphate Finish powder. Here, in our hard water, it has even outperformed Cascade Complete phosphated. I am STILL surprised, and I love phosphates, I'd marry them if I could! Everything is ALOT shinier! And, no,the Cascade wasn't too old, lol!

    Out of the archives

Thanks Steve for these fun ads. Tell me, does the Loeb use a vertical spray tower like the Youngstown Kitchens Jetower or is that tube something else? The dishes seem to be arranged impeller style. And was that a fully automatic machine?

Wow! Cascade, I am FINISHed with you!

This Finish powder is making glassware and silver shine SO MUCH MORE I think, due to the fact that it does not have coating agents in it like Shine Shield that leaves things "filmy". I cannot stress how MUCH better this stuff is. Now, being the phosphate junkie that I am, I may order some STPP...

Wow! Cascade, I am FINISHed with you!

It's just a lemon or orange fragrance, there's no real lemon juice in it like Sunlight used to have, should be no problemo!

Wow! Cascade, I am FINISHed with you!

I am still "shocked" at its performance. I'm sure adding STPP would further rev it up, though it is doing fine on its own!

Wow! Cascade, I am FINISHed with you!

Yes they did! The old formula was JUNKY WUNKY! It had a SMALL amount of phosphates, 3.2% and chlorine bleach. Now it has lots of enzymes and no bleach or phosphates.I thought the old stuff sucked!

Wow! Cascade, I am FINISHed with you!

I am supremely surprised! Ran out of PHOSPHATED Cascade Complete pacs, and now bought Finish powder without phosphates just for kicks. It works far better, as the dishes now sparkle and glisten in a way that Cascade could not acheive. And the water here is quite hard,. No chalky residue as Sun...

    KitchenAid experts:

They tried to chince on the rinse! This did have two rinses, but one after each was period ( W,R,W,R)thus only one final rinse. That's the only thing I dislike about it!

    Welcome - Whirlpool FP-50B-0 dishwasher

That is the whole upper rack, I also had an FP-50 years ago. It moved 30 GPM thru the spray arm. When combined with 12% phosphate Calgonite, the results were unbeatable. Dishes sparkled like diamonds. That sucker was very, very loud though! Congrats, I miss that machine!

    Calgonite Dishwasher Detergent Commercials

Calgonite 12% phosphate formula was far and away THE VERY VERY BEST dishwasher detergent I have EVER used. If it were still around, I'd run to get it! When Formula 211 Calgonite came out, with 8.7% phosphates, the results were dramatically less, the dishes did not have that SUPER SUPER shiny...

    Your oldest home appliance

"All the dirt, all the grit, Hoover gets it every bit.... Actually Branden, "It BEATS,as it sweeps,as it cleans" slogan came out in 1919, seven years before the beater bar came out. At that point(1926) this beating action was called Positive Agitation.

Cascade phosphate free is getting TERRIBLE reviews by customers!

Mark, it will greatly diminish the cleaning power of your detergent to add citric acid to it. The citric acid will cut the alkalinity of the detergent by lowering the pH too much. Citric should be separate!

Cascade phosphate free is getting TERRIBLE reviews by customers!

Cascades Sh*tting Action They do have "water softener" in it-sodium carbonate aka washing soda. It combines with calcium and magnesium in hard water forming limestone(calcium carbonate) which is why you see a chalk like residue now. Pity!
