Some questions about old U.S.A. made fridges

Back in the 70's-2000's I used to do various types of lab work. I remember some fridges with stainless exteriors and interiors. They were mostly impressive, but some seemed to fail.   Whatever!

What's the deal with microwaves rusting so fast?

I have about three microwave ovens, all purchased at Costco. None of them have rust issues, and I have had them for at least 5-10 years, or more.

Help or guidance Please for GE p7 wall oven

Hmm.   This house I purchased around 25 years ago has pretty much the same P7 wall oven. It's always worked fine, not that I use it much. Aside from that, I cannot figure what's wrong with the one you shared, other than it looks like someone tried to replace the heating element and then...

    Cheer TV Commercial

Ah, but in the second of the two commercials in this thread, (1965), the announcer clearly states that it's a General Electric washer.

    Coffee

I've had a Keurig for years and it's never failed.   For the past year or two I've been limiting myself to one cup a day.   I like Keurig.

    Coffee

I have gone way back from my younger years in terms of daily coffee consumption.   I used to drink 2 or more cups a day. Now I at most drink a cup in the morning, and sometimes not even that. I do use Keurig brews, which works out since they are relatively inexpensive for the relatively...

    My Ninja Speedi

My first 10 new speed bicycle was a Ninja. Still have it; it's hanging from the rafters in the workshop building here.

Not So Fast re: "Banning" Gas Stoves

I probably said this before here, but I much prefer cooking with natural gas than with electricity. When I bought this house in 1997, it had an old glass top Corning electric cooktop, which I hated. I replaced it within a year with a gas cooktop, and that has worked out well.   The wall...

Can I iron something that is 100% cotton that reads “do not iron”

Well, you could always iron those towels to see how they respond. I'm pretty sure just sticking them in the washing machine again will rectify any unwanted reaction.   Better yet, just iron one, so you you don't lose them all.

window/through the wall or mini split?

I'm so glad to live in an area where AC is not usually needed. I cannot remember needing to run an AC unit for the past couple of years. I have but one window AC unit but haven't run it in a while. However it's right in front of me, sitting on the floor by the window, in the "family room"...

    Heat, air and homeowner's insurance

Here's my 2 cents:   You might want to shop around for an insurer who doesn't care if the heat/cool is central or distributed as you describe.   Here in the SF Bay Area, most homes I've seen don't have central air. At most they have central heating, but even that is dependent upon the...

What Grocery Stores Were Really Like In The '60s

In the inner Sunset district of San Francisco, I remember the Cala grocery store in the 1960's. There was one very close to some of the flats we rented around that time.

Interesting old house with old TV, appliances, phones, etc

Honestly I can't see how the winters in Virginia can be as "brutal" as, say, the winters in New England states.  Or in the upper mid-western states.   Of course I'm a bit spoiled, after having lived in California for the past 60 years. Before that, southern New England.

Interesting old house with old TV, appliances, phones, etc

That place would probably go for a million or more here in the SF Bay Area.   Hmmm. I could sell this dump and buy that dump, and have lots of money left over. But the moving expenses would be major.

Can I iron something that is 100% cotton that reads “do not iron”

Perhaps the "Do Not Iron" warning was because ironing might flatten the towels to the point where they no longer absorb well.
