Summer Vacation means a new "Whisper-Wash"

Control Panel I Here is a close up of the control panel. No symbols! Very un-traditional for a GE/Camco machine. Canadian GE machines, re-brands or not, always had symbols to combat the clutter from English/French Bilingual control panels. "Newer" Beaumark machines used English/French panels...

Summer Vacation means a new "Whisper-Wash"

Leaky pump I bought the machine from a student, and she mentioned the machine leaked a bit. So I had to replace the motor seal. At the same time (because, it all comes in a kit now), I replaced the impeller, marcerator and screen. You can see, that over the years this machine leaked, it took a...

Summer Vacation means a new "Whisper-Wash"

Inside The machine features the low end racks. You cannot fit a wine glass up top, the rack is simply too high. However, this allows for large cookie sheets, cutting boards, and tall items to be loaded on the bottom rack. The bottom rack has low sides. It features a metal spray arm and a...

Summer Vacation means a new "Whisper-Wash"

Alas, I am finished school for the summer. I can now devote my time to my hobby. Collecting! I recently picked up a new toy, a Beaumark Whisper Wash portable dishwasher. Beaumark is the in house brand for The Bay (the previous brand was Baycrest), and most machines are made by GE/Camco. The...

It's Sunday, do you know what your washer is doing?

Greg, that is a nice photo of the filter flo, filter flo-ing! Lots of water splashing around.

Show us some Sunday Laundry Day pictures! Here is the Maytag A712 washing linens.

Which Maytag does this go on?

This agitator is from the early Orbital machines. The '12 series machines were both Orbital and Pitman/Helical drive in their production run. The orbital drive '12 series machines were found later in the production run. The turq agi was the one you would find in them. If you do some searching...

    Let's Talk: Pumps

These are the two most common pumps you will find in appliances. I mentioned positive displacement pumps. These style of pumps are mostly rotary pumps like screw or lobe pumps (like a supercharger on a car), or a reciprocating pump (like a piston on an air compressor). The difference is that...

    Let's Talk: Pumps

Next type of pump is the Turbine Pump. These pumps can also be known as Regenerative pumps. A classic example can be found in GE washers, or in Maytags, like in this A712. These pumps are unique as the water usually enters the side of the pump, and is slung around almost 360 degrees to the...

    Let's Talk: Pumps

Here we can see a very dirty, ravaged pump from a WP BD. This pump is also a centrifugal as the intake sends the water into the centre of the impeller area. You can also see where the velocity is turned into pressure, on the volute casing. The volute design can be noticed on the bottom of the...

    Let's Talk: Pumps

Another type of centrifugal pump is the Centrifugal pump with diffusers. Some Maytag dishwashers feature this style of pump, such as the first generation direct drive tower DWs of the early 90s. Diffusers around the impeller, or directly after them (in the case of the MT DWs) to add more...

    Let's Talk: Pumps

Here is a topic most of us don't really put much effort in to! PUMPS! They are the life blood of many machines we adore, especially washers and dishwashers. Some could argue the blowers on dryers are pumps, but for the purpose of this thread, we will discuss pumps that move water and whatever...

    Maytag Agitator Variations

You pretty much answered your own question lol! There are two size (standard and large capacity) varieties in each model of Powerfin and Bakelite versions. Each one featured different model changes over the years too. Bakelite agis had a stainless steel filter with a rubber seal on the bottom...

    Maytag Brake Tool

$35 bucks, I would buy a tonne of them at that price!! I may get the dimensions of one and make a few this summer in the machine shop, if I do that, and they are perfect quality and dimensions, would anyone be interested in buying one at a ridiculous fraction of the price? I have also heard of...

    Kenmore BD Portlabe wash video!

Hey Bruce! The reason why the portables spin opposite of their big sisters is because of the way the belt is routed. The belt on the portable snakes a LOT underneath, and raps around the spin clutch/drive much differently than the full size machine.

New Video: The 1971 Simpson fully programmed Fluid Drive - Full cycle

Leon, this is a fantastic machine! Sounds great, and looks very brisk while washing with that angel wing agi! Thanks for sharing!

    Kenmore BD Portlabe wash video!

I've always figured something was missing from it. I was always curious because I've seen another one with a missing tub cover here in Canada, so I didn't know if it was just a Canadian thing or not. But John, I will give you a call in the next few months to gear something up once school is...

    Kenmore BD Portlabe wash video!

Well, I have been a bit busy with school, hence slow posting. However, I did compile this treat for everyone. I made a wash day style video of the belt drive, Canadian infused, portable. Enjoy!! I washed a load of darks, pair of jeans, and a few shirts. Check out the end, when I show you how...

    Turquoise Twins!

Hey Todd! Excellent set! They look beautiful! I hope you get a lot of use and joy from them. I step out of the forum for a month to focus on school, and it seems like everyone is getting Maytags! Lots of '02 and Highlanders on here.

"Laundry Day" - a short film starring my Speed Queen

Great video! Really well put together, I like the music too. Some day I will get my hands on a SQ washer, they don't exist here in Nova Scotia. PS, nice Oreck.
