    WHP Catalyst wonky recirc valve

kb0nes, the pin you are refering to is for the tan/red wire, not the wht/red wire. tan/red is pin 2, wht/red (diverter valve) is pin 9.

    Actually, it's pin 9 of connector P6

    WHP Catalyst wonky recirc valve

The 6 optocouplers are used for the other 6 valves in the washer (bleach, fresh, fabric softener, detergent, hot, cold). The diverter valve receives power via the outboard relay above the transformer.

    Talk to me about quality

I have an 02 model and have replaced the lower bearing in the transmission and repaired a fautly motor switch, but other than that, it has been fine. The bearing was $10 and switch repair didn't cost anything. A broken LGS cannot cause spin during wash. In fact, a broken LGS will not allow...

    Speed Queen Washer Question

The only thing the extra rinse switch does in these models is allow the timer to continue running til it gets to the fill portion of the extra rinse cycle. It has no function in the actual filling stage.

    Speed Queen Washer Question

Why do you say it doesn't fit the AWN432 entirely?

    Speed Queen Washer Question

That would be fine and would allow you to select cold or warm rinse.

    Speed Queen Washer Question

So, here's the wiring diagram showing my mod that allows rinse temp to be same as wash temp. Instead of this, you could just add a toggle switch between timer gray wire and temp switch orange wire to turn on warm rinse. In the diagram, in wash mode, timer P connects to H, V connects to W. In...

    Speed Queen Washer Question

The mod I had provided would make rinse temp the same as whatever you selected for wash, hot-warm-cold. Being able to select different temps for wash and rinse is a whole nother ballgame.

    Speed Queen Washer Question

That was me that provided the temp mod. The diagram for the 542 and 432 are different as the 542 has a speed switch (fabric select), the 432 does not. I have photo's only of the diagrams but they are not very high resolution. Maybe LLMaytag can provide a good high res photo of his. The diagram...

Assuming the AWN 542 goes away at end of 2014

The U.S. Dept of Energy sets the standards supposedly based on feedback from manufacturers, consumer groups and environmental advocates. In 2010, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers and its Major Appliance Division member companies signed an agreement with a nationwide coalition of...

Assuming the AWN 542 goes away at end of 2014

I suspect they will be coming out with a new machine in the U.S. as new energy standards put in place in 2012 will be mandatory beginning in March 2015 and even tighter standards are mandatory beginning January 2018. The DOE is even going after manufacturers of the big multi-nozzle shower...

    If you had too...

I was responding to the previous poster who stated "I'm pretty sure there belt drives though, and will fail quickly" which implied belt failure. Iv'e seen lots of motor/inverter and mode shifter failures but very few belt failures. I don't see how you can call the new Whirlpool BD's "well...

    If you had too...

I didn't say GE washers failures are rare, I said belt failures are rare and I did mention the high failure rate of the motor/inverters. My post was short and you still can't read it correctly.

    If you had too...

"you can actually get a real, full hot wash. Warm and cool are pretty dumbed down, but hot is full water line hot" The Whirlpool belt drives do not provide a full hot wash. While the water coming out may be full hot at times, cold water is added periodically during fill.
