    New Whirlpool/Maytag Front Loaders

I am old-school I guess, at 40 I will pay more for a better-made US product, and in fact will seek one out, rather than get the cheap stuff. My Ariens snowblower with the Briggs engine is an example. Cost more than a Honda snowblower but Ariens stuff is just so durable and parts are available...

    Today's "off-brands" and lesser-seen appliance names

Badge engineering. GM did it with cars. Think your Buick Century was any different inside than a Chevy Citation?

    Parting Out Maytag DG7500 Dryer

You were right, half an hour with a new ignitor and coils for the gas valve fixed it right up! Part-out cancelled LOL

Maytag Commercial Washer MVWP575GW Warranty Repair

All you had to do was tip the SQ slightly in the display and you could feel the extra weight of all the solid construction. The Maytag Commercial looked old-school but felt cheap.

    Parting Out Maytag DG7500 Dryer

That's what I was trying to figure out myself. Grandma is 88 so she may not understand. I will see what the repair guy says when he comes out. I have not looked at it myself, I don't mess with gas, just electric.

Maytag Commercial Washer MVWP575GW Warranty Repair

Ugh, I was looking at these two years ago and didn't bite when I realized they used the same sprung inner plastic tub set-up that the cheaper 'Tags use. Sucks to hear they are having problems. Wanted a Speed Queen but those were discontinued already and replaced with the newer model thats no...

    Parting Out Maytag DG7500 Dryer

I may be parting out a DG7500 Maytag gas dryer for my grandmother. Her pilot light won't stay lit so she is calling for service and if they can't fix I will have it. It is a BZ serial 1990 model in good shape used only by two elderly folks since new.

What would the New Price for a Maytag DE409 have been?

John, Thanks for the info. I will BOLO for one of the dryers you mention. I scrapped a DE712 the other day and was able to obtain not only the coveted idler spring but some other good spares so I will be set for awhile between that and the other pieces I have scrounged up on your advice (3...

Which washers and dryers are the easiest to work on?

Older Maytag dryers are a breeze. I kept spares for common problems (blower wheels, belts) and most repairs could be done right in the laundry room from the front of the unit.

    Parting Out Maytag DE712 Dryer

I am picking up a working DE712 Electric dryer this weekend for parts. Everything in the cabinet will fit my DE409, but the controls, chime, etc are good and won't fit. Anyone need these? Price is CHEAP, whatever you want. I am thrilled to get the internal parts and just don't want to see...

Turquoise appliance set at estate sale tomorrow (Norcross, GA)

Here's some pics of the kitchen from the last time it sold. Still my work. The guy who bought it asked dad who had done the kitchen he was so impressed. Dad said "My son."

Turquoise appliance set at estate sale tomorrow (Norcross, GA)

Reminds me of my grandfather's house. Had he not set the gas stovetop on fire frying oysters unattended his would have been all original from '56. Double enclosed oven too. Pink toilets date stamped 1957 in the bowl. All of that had to be removed when he went to the nursing home and I...
