    Turquoise 1962 Frigidaire Repairs...

Great post David! This fridge is very similar to my 1959 Frigidaire D-13-59, and your videos are of high interest to me since mine is still running on its factory charge. I tore the whole thing down last year (didn’t touch the sealed system aside from moving the evaporator around), got rid of...

    Caloric Food Waste Disposer

“Its pretty though” John, that made me laugh! It is pretty. Too bad it’s going to be shut away under the sink. Here are the money shots as requested:

    Caloric Food Waste Disposer

I picked this fella up from an eBay seller in Pennsylvania as a replacement for our dying ISE. Does anyone know anything about it? No references to be found anywhere. There were some posts from several years back by Volsboy in which Caloric was mentioned to exist, but nothing about its...

You’re pretty good at spotting these!

$150 Avocado Maytag Set- Knoxville TN

Picked them up today! Thanks for the advice qsd-dan and oliger. I loaded them (by myself) as y’all instructed and that washer was HEAVY. They’re strapped in safe and secure for the ride back home. We’re staying with relatives an hour North in Speedwell for the weekend. Tennessee has some...

$150 Avocado Maytag Set- Knoxville TN

Thanks for the link Oliger! We’re headed down to Knoxville this weekend to pick them up. $152.50 for the set. It’s an A608 Washer and a DG309 Dryer. Date code is CG… so I think April, 1979. See pics! Anything I should be aware of with these?

L’il bitty Sears Coldspot Chest Freezer (1959?)

Thanks John! I’ll reach out on here when I get around to working with it. I’ve got dishwasher stuff going on right now 😝

L’il bitty Sears Coldspot Chest Freezer (1959?)

Thanks turbokinetic! I wasn’t lucky 😭. I tried the 240V jump start (safely!). It did make a single groan like it was going to start, but then just buzzed. I didn’t keep it on long, just a few seconds, and tried twice, letting it cool in between (the compressor housing got pretty warm). There...

    1968 GE SD300 restoration

Good question neptunebob! Right now, I’m not entirely sure how I’ll do it. It may wind up looking like an airplane on the inside with sheet steel and sealed rivets. Or I may figure out how to weld... 😂 Whichever route, I’ll post it on this thread. The 1974 to 1979 service manual refers to both...

    1968 GE SD300 restoration

Another update!! 😂 This past holiday weekend, I ventured 3 hours South to Durham, NC and met Mark (William637). After a fantastic lunch (that quiche!! 🤗), he showed me his *amazing* dishwasher collection, and gave me a 1972 GE SD-460N (in Avocado) that is in superb condition. I’ve never seen...

L’il bitty Sears Coldspot Chest Freezer (1959?)

Update!! Apologies for the delay in responding! Today, I throughly tested and attempted to start the freezer. The thermostat on the back (FHP brand?) does allow for continuity at least. The wiring is in order, no broken areas. As mentioned by turbokinetic, the compressor terminals are indeed...

L’il bitty Sears Coldspot Chest Freezer (1959?)

Hey Stan! No updates yet. Work has been ultra busy this week and I haven’t dedicated any time at all to it. I will post an update and response this weekend though. Thanks for checking up 🙂

L’il bitty Sears Coldspot Chest Freezer (1959?)

I just got back from a 10 hour round trip to Coatesville, PA, where I picked up this little beauty. Found on eBay and could not pass it up for $50. It needs some minor TLC but it’s in good shape cosmetically. The seller said it worked when first purchased used. It was left unplugged for a while...

    1968 GE SD300 restoration

Not yet! I’m heading down to NC later in the month to meet up with Mark and pickup a similar model. Stay tuned for updates 😊

    1968 GE SD300 restoration

Finished repainting the front panels... I used an air compressor and a paint gun. The gloss turned out good, but it will still get polished and waxed. The turquoise looks a brighter shade in the photos than it really is. The inside tub looks ok-ish. There are a few spots that need some...

    1968 GE SD300 restoration

neptunebob: That’s an interesting idea! The steel inner door on this one is basically the one piece that everything screws onto, so I’d probably have to take the whole door of a donor. I will investigate this further. Thanks Repairguy and rollermatic! It will definitely be worth the work 😊

    1968 GE SD300 restoration

Thanks vacerator! I appreciate everyone’s replies! Yeah, it’s going to be some work, but I just couldn’t stand the thought of it rotting away at the dump or being scrapped. The styling alone is worth it since nothing modern comes close. It also matches my fridge and range (they’re a bit older...
