First time KitchenAid Superba owner seeking advice

KDS-20 (60) I have the portable model of this dishwasher. I believe mine is from the early 80’s, about 1980 or 1981. The only issue I’d ever had with this machine was the filter screen in the inlet valve becoming clogged. Once I cleaned up the inlet valve, wash performance greatly improved...

Definitely like the GEs but... Pretty much anything with lights will win me over.

    GE FF wash start sequence

Vari-flex John is correct. Vari-flex agitators had 4 settings making any washer very versatile. When vanes are fully extended they go just beyond the baseplate giving a very vigorous agitation. Fully retracted, the wash is quite gentle and could be considered “hand wash” on a low speed. They...

Just to be clear I too have had dealings with mother superior at Alco Appliance. I carry her picture as a reminder.

Lorain Furniture (Cleveland, Ohio) Maytag A806 restoration...

Why the fighting? Who cares if Eugene’s business gets a plug? He’s posting videos showing how to rebuild machines at no charge to the public. Those can be invaluable to someone like me when I’ve got a machine torn apart and I’m stuck on something I’m not sure about. I’ve always appreciated...

AW Discount Eugene, I didn’t realize you provided members on here a discount. Last year I needed a spin tube clutch assembly for one of my Kenmore washers and my eBay offer was declined so I purchased from someone else. Sigh...now I know for next time...

    Frigidaire Holy Grail - WCIR-61

Beautiful! Congrats! Having seen a similar model in person, it never occurred to me that these “clamshell” panels actually opened and closed! How cool!

    Time to reinvigorate...

Cross-vane tumbling I couldn’t attest to whether or not it’s actually better but I’m sure it was a sort of gimmick to give reason for their dryers to stand out in the competition. The canes are angled rather than straight front to back. Two are angled one way and the third is angled in the...

Finishing touches Briefly popped open the panel to clean a bit and replace a start switch. She’s all back together and pretty again. Will give it a test run tomorrow and probably get it hooked up for use. Thanks for following my thread! I included a picture of the model and serial number decal...

    Time to reinvigorate...

Thank you all! This collection began to materialize in 2008 when I found this club. My first vintage machine was my early 80’s Kenmore portable belt-drive which I sold several years ago to another member. That was a great little machine. This Westinghouse set was a lucky find in that it was...

    Time to reinvigorate...

Blue porcelain Wiped down the drum to find a rather nice blue sheen in the front. I almost forgot it was an affordable model and brand when I saw that! Tomorrow will be replacing the starter switch and some final touches. She’s almost ready to roll!

    Time to reinvigorate...

Oh Johnny boy You’re the sweetest. You’re also ahead of yourself. You already sent me an Emerson motor already attached to a mounting bracket. It fit like a glove. Thanks to the terminal wiring diagram I was able to easily reattach the five wires to the “new” motor. John swears that this motor...

Inside The lint fiesta kicks into high gear as we get the drum out! Notice this is a single-element design and the dryer will function at either 240v (high heat) or 120v (low heat) with timed-dry cycle being up to 138 minutes long!

    Time to reinvigorate...

Westinghouse Dryer These dryers are so very “GE-esque” in their design. This particular model is slightly more primitive in that it utilizes a temperature sensor rather than a moisture sensor, if I’m not mistaken. It’s a large capacity pretty close to that if the big-door GE Americana. No...

    Time to reinvigorate...

To say the least, this has been a rough year for me between working directly with this pandemic and navigating my divorce after fifteen years. Today is the day I decided to start making some progress in my little slice of laundry history. My goal is to have as many of this machines hooked up and...

You can be sure (it has lights), if it's Westinghouse!

Parts I have one of the older slant front models. Not sure what is compatible as far as parts but it’s a mechanically solid machine. It lacks a door boot and latch so if you need any parts let me know. Obviously without a sealing and closing door it is of no use to me.

    Touch-up paint

As many of you may know, I have a weakness for avocado and seven of my machines, 5 GEs and two Westinghouse, are avocado. Finding white appliance porcelain touch-up paint is easy but what about avocado or goldenrod? I found some NOS avocado Whirlpool brand appliance paint online and ordered it...
