if you had to buy a vintage washer dryer set today what would be your dream set

hmmm Something offbeat that folks outside this website wouldn't know, TOL Kelvinator from the 50's, a Zenith set making folks think television. Hmm, plenty of great stuff to choose. First year of 1-18's, I could go on and on.....60's Philco with the wobble plate, very different than agitators...

Gas KM Dryer from mid 70s---ambient temperature cause of no ignition

hmmm Ambient temp should not have any affect. You are correct, the first thing I'd look at is the glow-bar. Take off the bottom front of the dryer and locate it GENTLY, watch closely as you start the dryer and give it a minute or so to try to glow. It's usually an inexpensive fix, but watch...

Maytag 806 loud agitation on gentle

Hmm I have an A108S, single speed, usually very quiet. But SOMETIMES when it's returning suds, there's some unpleasant harmonic vibration between pump, agitator, and the spline that creates a rattle something fierce. Once it gets about 1/4 of the water back in the tub, it silences. I have not...

    POD 12/17

ALSO, sounds to me like only one incoming hose from your faucet, you choose the temp for wash, then you later decide on rinse temp by turning the sink faucets. Also, I bet you could get as long a wash at low water level as you want as long as you let it run three minutes, stop, turn the dial...

Question,,,What machines have you had the WORST luck with

Frigidaire 1-18 FANTASTIC when they run, but I can't keep one working more than 6 months at a time. Repeat, FANTASTIC machines when they run, efficient water usage and CLEAN clothes. Transmission doesn't age well. Reading all above, everyone has different results. My various Maytags have...

    Sudssaver washers

well I am a big fan of suds machines. Once in a while, I'll throw a few of the dirtiest items in when there's just barely enough incoming water, to get some real thrashing when needed, but it's wisest to wait for a full tub of water or nearly so. Suds saver washers are economical, great fun.

Harvest gold Kenmore heavy duty dryer $150 (Detroit, MI)

I have that model I got it about 3 years ago and did MASSIVE delinting throughout, oiled the motor, etc. Excellent running machine, and under the lint door is a knob for turning the damn buzzer off when not needed. Other times I am glad it buzzes. Any drier this old, get ALL the lint out, I...
