    Modern Living: Part Six

Like the ad for Cold Power. She could only get cold water into her washer. Guess she never thought that both hoses were not connected and that the one connected was for the cold water and was put on reversed for the valves. Jon

    Welcome to the New Server

Everything is loading much faster. Todays POD of 5/26 did not come up this morning. It was just a little x box in the upper left hand corner. Jon

    Recommendation for an indoor fly-zapper?

I have noticed some sort of what I think are bug killers/zappers in some store deli's and meat departments. They have a soft blue light and some grid work recessed on them. They are mounted on a flat wall and have a curved surface on the inside. The look to be either mirrored or shinny stainless...

    Woods freezer question

Well 4.0 amps isn't much so I would go along with not frost free. How about a picture of the interior, that would give a better idea of what you have. Hope you guys are both doing well. Jon

    Walker & Pratt Range

Hope someone does not try to hook gas up to it. Those external pipes they mention look like it is a water jacket for heating water for domestic use. lol Jon

    Whirlpool Auto Dosing System

In the commercial that I saw she was pouring the detergent into the normal draw it seemed at the top left of the machine. Maybe it was being poured into the bottom draw but it didn't appear that way. Do they have 2 types of storage? Jon

    Summer Cocktails

I have served large pitchers of Long Island ice tea, and or pitchers of Margaritas. Both have gone over very well and both can be prepped ahead of time and kept in fridge till needed. Both have a good kick to them. lol Jon

    Whirlpool Auto Dosing System

While watching TV last night there was an ad on that showed a new auto dosing system on their front loaders. You fill the drawer as usual with a liquid detergent, but it holds they state 40 loads of detergent. You can use what ever you desire, with no dosage containers to deal with. Would...

    Electric windows (automotive)

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the window buttons don't seem any harder than any other car/truck I have had. Have also a Volvo S80 and the buttons seem about the same. They are not feather touch but not that much effort to pushing down or pulling up. Actually the door lock/unlock feature is...

Best available detergent for Hobart Kitchenaid Dishwasher?

Finish powder just came back on our local grocers shelves recently. Had not seen it for a while. Still have the Cascade powder which is what I use. Plus there is a house brand in powder also. There is more powder detergent for dishwashers than there is powder for clothes washers. How time has...

Does Anyone Still Use A Fax Machine?

Believe it or not, but most hospitals and nursing facilities still use fax machines on a daily basis. When info is needed right away going to the right people who need a hard copy of patients info they still go this route. They can have it in their hands, getting it directly from the nurses...

    Humidifier

I once had a Sears humidifier with the same type of roto belt, this was from the late 70's early 80's. Also I had I believe was a Presto humidifier from the early to mid 70's with this type of belt also. Don't know if this will help with replacement belts. Jon

    Furnace replacement

All this talk of undersized a/c units. I have heard this for many years also. Well I did the opposite when I built my house 10 years ago. I oversized my a/c by 1 ton instead of 3 tons I went to 4 tons. I wanted to be sure my house would cool to whatever I wanted no matter how hot it gets...

    Wood Fired Cook Stoves/Ranges

Both of my grandparents farmhouses had wood cook stoves inside their kitchens which also provided heat for the houses. When summer came and it was too hot to cook indoors, they also had wood cook stoves outside in the back yard. My parents had one in our basement to use for heating the basement...

Strongest Bonding Agent for broken Plastic.

The strongest glue I have found to use on plastic to plastic is Gorilla glue. They instruct to use water on one side and glue on the other. I had great success in just using the glue on one side then put them together and tape to hold the contacting pieces together for 24 hours. A couple of...

    KitchenAid KDS-18 Front Panels

Does it drain into a garbage disposal? Looks like a new sink, did you remove the plastic plug on the disposal prior to installing the drain line? This would be my 1st check to see. Jon

    Cascade Complete Actionpacs horrible!!

I just came across a stash of the Finish dishwasher tabs in my MIL house and brought them home. No original container. These appear to be wrapped in a silver foil. I have been unwrapping them prior to use in the dishwasher. Do you not need to unwrap these? It seems a pain to be opening these. I...
