I had no choice but to replace the compressor in my 1956 GE wall refrigerator when it failed for the 2nd time in late 2022. I did not do the restoration work myself, but I know that an Embraco compressor using R134 was installed to replace the original one. Nearly 2 years later, all has been fine!

Definitely the 53 or 54 model.  I have the still-unrestored WA450K washer that would pair up nicely with this...

Ken, I had a similar issue on my 1973 A407 recently.  It turned out to be the pump but here's the good news, it was saved by oiling it!   If you can see a screw in the pump body below the drain chamber, add a few drops of turbine oil (Zoom Spout) and turn the pulley a few times, add more oil...

Wow!  Thanks for highlighting this, Steve!  I just bought one 'cause wouldn't ya know it, the one in my 56 GE dishwasher in the Wonder Kitchen broke after 15 years' use... LOL   I still have a '56 MobileMaid to restore, too. 

Turner's Timer Repair in Scarborough, Ontario may be able to fix this.  They no longer touch mechanical timers but say they are specialists in electronic-control types.  

It was made in Canada.  In Peterborough, Ontario back in those days I believe!
