    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

Now for the dryer Still have some work to do, but here’s what the dryer looks like at the moment. Hoping it’ll work once everything checks out.

    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

Reply #10 I prefer TOL with options, flexibility. My Maytag 806 is 46 years old, still working and that’s a TOL machine. My Whirlpool is a hodgepodge of sorts, it too will be working for quite awhile. Personally, I think some BOL machines are more harsh since you can’t select the agitate...

    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

Reply #6 No, no, no, no, no. That’s way too restrictive for my tastes. I should be able to select whatever options I want along with cycle times. I almost always do a gentle wash with a fast spin (unless I’m washing permanent press items) when items aren’t particularly heavily soiled. No need...

    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

I think it was in the early 70’s sometime. The late 60’s Mark XII’s had 3 speeds, this one only has 2 speeds on it. Will definitely put the gentle washer with fast spin to use once I put this into service sometime this upcoming summer, possibly sometime this fall.

    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

A compilation of various clips as it was being ran through the various cycles. There it appears to be water leaking in one of the videos clips, but realized it was water splashing from out of the tub on the hand washables setting on the regular agitation speed. That went away in time after...

    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

After 2 years of being out of commission, managed to bring this machine back to life albeit altered a bit. Got these consoles from scatpear in Colorado who parted out a 1977 Whirlpool Imperial Mark 18 set, along with the wiring harnesses and other odds and ends that were pulled off from them...

    Swash

Will need to try Whirlpool detergent in my genuine Whirlpool belt drive washer to see hot it’ll do :)

Acquired some Kenmore 80 and 90 series machines

Whenever I use bleach, I usually use a quick dash which is or a little less than 1/4 of a cup. Anymore than that is ‘too much’. You really only need to use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of bleach if that, sometimes I think they suggest higher dosages so you use more product which means you’ll have to buy it...

What model of Whirlpool is this?

Reply #13 It was the 1956 Whirlpool Imperial washer that was the first 2 speed washer they made, believe Kenmore got a 2 speed machine starting in 1955. A variable speed machine is interesting, but is ‘too much’ for me since it doesn’t really do anything at all. 2 speeds in a long stroke...

What model of Whirlpool is this?

“I have a strong liking for single speed washers, less to go wrong” My Maytag A806 is a 2 speed machine that’s 46 years old, still working decades later. My Whirlpool (will create a dedicated thread) also has a 2 speed motor that’s 16 1/2 years older than my Maytag, that’s still working as...

What model of Whirlpool is this?

I actually found this on the suggested automatice (?) that pops up every once in awhile for instruction manuals. Immediately knew it was a 1963 model since mine has the same lense for the lighted part of the console. I don’t know if there’s any surviving examples out there, but you never know...

A Few of my Favorite Things

Believe he has the second largest collection on the site, though he collects small appliances like vacuums and mixers as well, possibly toasters.

A Few of my Favorite Things

May possibly open one day, but I’m not sure. Haven’t really heard from Chris in awhile, even had a conversation awhile back with another friend who’s also a friend and haven’t heard from Chris in awhile. Probably busy with life behind the scenes from what I can imagine.

2015 Speed Queen Washer Model AWNE82SP113TW01

Inlet valves seem to be a common failure, had that happen to my Maytag A606, ordered a replacement and seems to be working. Installed one on my Franken-Pool, seems to work rather well though has been over a week since I’ve used it.

FB MarketPlace Find: 1985 SPIN-DRAIN Kenmore DD!

I think the direct drives (in the early stages and years) didn’t have nowhere near as much testing done since the spin drain models had a tendency of linting things up and the short 90 degree strokes didn’t really help much either, especially when the machine was packed full. You could get away...

New Production Vintage Incandescent Light Bulbs

LED lights emit blue light which isn’t good, that’s why it’s can be a bit tricky to put the devices down before bed. Meanwhile, incandescents emit red light which is what the sun gives off, possibly might explain why everyone is tired these days since the brain won’t slow down which results in...

    Tide Ultra Oxi

Ariel Oxi is similar, may be a bit ‘too much’ for some in the scent department, but like that ‘fresh clean smell’ when everything is all done.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

The VMW design was really only meant to be used in a compact washer design, not a full-size machine. Works perfectly fine in a compact washer, but in a full size machine, not so much since it’s undersized and underpowered which will cause it to wear out sooner than necessary.

    Home Depot Dryer Installation!! Seriously???

Call me crazy, but I’ve been using that foil vent tubing for the past 5 years, never had an issue. Nice thing is if I need to move the dryer out to clean behind it or work on the machine, can easily remove the vent since it uses one of those clamps you remove with your fingers as opposed to...

Wanted: Whirlpool belt drive water level hose

Re Reply #9 After doing some more research, it’s a pvc reducer bushed that I used to secure the air dome and automatic dispensers/lint filter piece in place to the tub.
