Anyone know about wiring UK wall switches in the US?

Again, this is at your own risk. When in doubt, talk an electrician and go the professional route. I just sent this to the seller on Ebay. Just as an update. I talked to a master electrician here in the States . He's been doing this for over 40 years, in everything from oilfield to regular...

Anyone know about wiring UK wall switches in the US?

Sent a message to the seller through Ebay. This was the response. (basically, it won't work) Dear artcurus3, Thanks for the email. No it will not, we do not have any US switches I'm afraid. Anything else please let me know. On 11/01/2015 14:59, artcurus3 wrote: Other: artcurus3 sent a...

    Oh those dirty, dirty dishes!!

OMG, the 2 hour wash times on these new models blows monkeys, especially when you are trying to get a lot of stuff done in a hurry. I really don't see how these models are better when so much is invested in the wash time.

Anyone know about wiring UK wall switches in the US?

What kind of bulbs are you running on it? If you are running lighting only, then you should be fine. Here's a basis for comparison 300 watts = 2.5 amps As for the measurement, american boxes are 1.5" deep. 1.5 inch =33.1 mm However I agree, it might be better to go ahead and get a UK box to...

1971 Wizard box fan slow to start

revin, Take the grills off and send some more pictures, especially of the front of the blade and where it connects to the shaft. That motor is actually not too bad.

1971 Wizard box fan slow to start

The front motor bearing is the problem. Turn the fan blade side up, with the back of the motor toward the floor. In other words, after removing the grills, lay the fan on it's back, take a flashlight, and you should be able to see the armature of the motor behind the fan blades. Put a few drop...

Sirius Radio's :THE 54 MOST IMPORTANT SONGS OF THE DISCO AMD CLASSIC DANCE ERA

Awesome! Yup, I once played a disco dance for an Elementary school, did the entire thing off vinyl. Kids were like "What the hell is that?" ;-) So many favorites but I would have to say this one Thelma Houston-Don't Leave Me This Way or this one Amii Stewart Knock On Wood (Oh My Dear...

    My New Rather Expensive Hobby...

There's a guy that's selling deadstock jukebox 78's on Epay right now. I have to admit, I've been impressed, and most of his records appear to be in very good shape. Though they aren't the orginal labels, (again, Canadian/UK pressings) Many major 50's hits...

    My New Rather Expensive Hobby...

Yeah, it wouldn't let me edit. Should have been more clear. What I mean is that I have a rather large collection of 45's. I never really liked 78's, too brittle and the sound, while can be very good, falls apart quickly on a poorly cared for record. However, for some reason, I'm really digging...

    My New Rather Expensive Hobby...

What's so crazy is that I don't even LIKE 78 rpm. But watching that black, yellow and Specialty label spin. And don't even get me started on Sun and Jerry Lee Lewis...

    My search for vintage toilets

Part of the problem is the way that bottom of the bowl is designed. The, uhmm.. "stuff" goes into the very bottom of the bowl which is shaped more like a triangle. While the flush is supposed to be jet assisted from a plunger in the tank, it doesn't always work. It's almost impossible to get a...

    My search for vintage toilets

I've been slowly pulling toilets from old houses being demoed here. I have a small collection of 1950-60's toilets in storage. My main one is from a 1960's motel that was also being demoed. The new ones absolutely suck and are damn near impossible to keep clean. We paid something like $400 for...

    Christmas Lights

@ovrphil, To be blunt, dimming LED's doesn't a damn thing about saving money or reducing *overall* load, the power supply on LED is solid state and constant. Actually it's incandescents than can benefit from dimming. I have used dimmers on my 1950's incandescent xmas bulbs to preserve bulb...

    Estate finds... Repair advice needed.

Okay, if the ceramic disc are supported in an "X" fashion, (use a piece of steel pipe support tape strapping) on the underside of the disc. It *should* be okay, considering it has a steel cap on the top side already. Now the heating element is a different story. They are two seperate coils...

    Christmas Lights

keep forgetting it wont let me edit, but I'm not a real big fan of the big bulbs. Mostly because they constantly blow fuses (modern sets) it's difficult to get the load right. They do look good though, and in fact, I have some 1950's red and green yard stakes shaped like candy canes lining a...
