    Help Identify Dryer Issue

Reapirs I replaced the rear drum seal and bearing seal on the door (279408 & W11035878) along with the support ring bearing (279441). Sounds better, but still not that great. I don't know. When replacing the bearing seal, the dryer door had 3 tabs and was new bearing seal only had 2 inserts...

    Beautiful KitchenAid washer/dryer set

Interesting. I wouldn’t have guessed around that time. Thank you Glenn Does this washer have the sound proof padding on the bottom?

What made the KitchenAid set the best available at that time? The porcelain finish in the cabinet?

    Beautiful KitchenAid washer/dryer set

With the rotary speed selection Probably the model above the one I am getting. This one has 14 cycles compared to 11 on mine.     Still waiting on model/serial numbers, but from what I am seeing, this particular design might have been the successor to the mid 90s chrome "superba" model...

    Beautiful KitchenAid washer/dryer set

^ That is correct. This machine does medium, extra low, and int. extra slow. I believe the model above this had the speed control. These don't do fast agitation due to the large base agitator. This is fine with me because its just as effective, but more gentle on your clothes. I love the design...

    Beautiful KitchenAid washer/dryer set

This will be my next set. Put down a deposit and will be picking up Saturday. No idea when this particular style was made as I am awaiting the model/serial numbers. Anyone have any kind of experience with this set?   From the photos it appears to be a 3-speed with 5 water levels. It also has...

    Help Identify Dryer Issue

I didn't apply any grease to the belt idler. I only applied a very small amount to the roller shafts. Anyway Glen, do you believe the issue is the rear drum seal?

    Help Identify Dryer Issue

Disassembly I actually took in a part about a half hour ago and you are right. It's definitely pretty easy. IMO its easier to take a part than the washer. I was able to inspect the rollers and cleaned the shaft they connect to and add some grease. The felt on the rear drum is pretty shot. Some...

    Help Identify Dryer Issue

Felt seal That’s what I’m thinking because the sound is right at the door. Everything else on the machine sounds good.

    Help Identify Dryer Issue

1996 Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care gas dryer. It started making a weird noise the other day, what appears to be a scrapping noise. I don't know how much about dryers, but I would assume it might be the felt that the drum sits on under the door.  Below is a video demonstrating the issue.   ...

Can Oil be added through the shaft seal opening?

Ok. I won’t worry about it. Only thing is I’m not sure how much oil has leaked out in the past. Are there any signs the gear case would give off to let me know there isn’t enough oil inside?

Can Oil be added through the shaft seal opening?

One of my DD transmissions has leaked quite a bit of oil (through the coupler shaft) I have confirmed this. I am worried that maybe more has gotten out as I realized. When I noticed it, there was maybe about the size of a quarter on the floor. Without having to open the gearcase up and reseal...

Congrats! That’s a beautiful machine. I’m trying to find one just like that but with the white and chrome control panel. Of course TOL model.

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

Dryer Anyone have any good recommendations for a matching dryer? Obviously the matching original dryer is not an option, as it's very rare.   I like the one in the first picture, but I need a gas one.  Second one pictured is probably newer, but the gray disappoints.  The one in the third...

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

There is absolutely no difference in performance. The three pad clutch was just a cost-cutting move to give the same performance. They put a stronger spring in. Oh ok. I did not know that. That makes sense now. Is this when they also color coded the springs to match the size of the tub? 24" 27"...

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

Thanks John. I appreciate your input. I’ll leave the clutch alone. I thought they performed better. My 94 and 96 Kenmore’s both had factory installed 6 pad clutches installed. In regards to the floor, I don’t think it can get any more solid or stronger. The dryer still vibrates but I’m...
