Which other detergent(s) comes close in characteristics to Cheer (powder and liquid)?

If Laundress stops by I’m sure shel have a suitable suggestion for a substitute. IIRC..Cheer was for colors. So possibly a mild detergent like Seventh Generation or Ecos. They don’t contain Optical brighteners, or oxygen bleach, and O.K for lightly duty HTH

    in wash starch

OMG! So $12.00 per pleat ! I use to do a lot of drapes when I worked in dry cleaning. They were measured upon arrival or at the time of take down. Usually dry cleaned, then hung on drapery machine, steamed, pleated, re steamed and stretched back to original length if needed. Not a difficult...

“softener leads to machine failure“ Is this true or is it hogwash?

Glen Nice job of cleaning it up. It didn’t look like it had detergent build up or gunk. More like hard water deposits? Noting too unusual for its age. They all need a good cleaning from time to time no matter what one dose.

Its a Good Thing I Cleaned The Oven

Good to know Eddie After reading your post I checked our local garbage/ recycling website and it looks like I’ve been doing this right but putting it in the wrong can! I should be putting this in with the yard waste container! Some of our scraps go to the chicken but I’m picky about what they...

Its a Good Thing I Cleaned The Oven

Eddie This is what we’ve been using the last 38 years Our hostess and the rest of group knew this as we’ve hosted all the gathering at our house. This old stove has cranked out many party dinners. (For them) I later found out that they were all in on the joke and wanted to see if we’d know...

Its a Good Thing I Cleaned The Oven

Hi Eddie Just notice this post. I guess you ain’t ever going to lay on a oven door again. 😂 Last Xmas time we were invited guests at someone’s house..kind of a pot luck deal. New experience for us cuz we usually do all the hosting. We brought something (can’t remember what) that needed to be...

“softener leads to machine failure“ Is this true or is it hogwash?

Detergent can build up on fabric It’s referred to as encrustation. If you google “encrustation on fabric” you find explanations of how and why it happens. If Laundress stops by, I’m sure shel be able to explain further. STPP is one additive that helps prevent this. Good rinsing and...

“softener leads to machine failure“ Is this true or is it hogwash?

Let us know Aldo You can also run a empty load (no clothes no detergent) with hot water and just the soda crystals (washing soda) to help remove any detergent build up in the machine. Same thing will happen if you have build up in machine (You’l see sudsing)

    Vintage Tide "Ultra" Powder

Hello Dear! Sodium Carbonate seems to be close to the top of the list on all Tide powdered versions. And I imagine it still is with the new box of powdered Tide Original I have now. I’ve advised folks that are die hard liquid detergent users to occasionally use straight washing soda and hot...

“softener leads to machine failure“ Is this true or is it hogwash?

Aldo Have you tried using half the recommended dosage of your detergent? You might have a detergent build up already in the fabrics. This can cause over sudsing. Try washing a load in warm to hot water with 1/2 cup of baking soda or soda crystals (no detergent) and see if you get suds. If...

“softener leads to machine failure“ Is this true or is it hogwash?

I’ve cleaned My 2000 Kenmore like he did in the video twice since new. Last time was only a month ago. Both times where nowhere near that bad. I don’t use FS I think no matter what one uses it a good idea to check them on occasion and clean them out. Since last cleaning I’ve been adding...

    Vintage Tide "Ultra" Powder

I wonder How different this formula is from the current Tide Powder available now? I always keep a box of Tide original on hand. I never use the recommended dose as the stuff is strong enough with half the recommended dose.

Thoughts on Kenmore washer as daily driver?

Rick Difficult to give you a answer.. It depends on your needs and possibly your skill level with repairs. I agree that the agitator probably need new dogs. And probably needs to have the inner tub removed so it can be cleaned (inside and out) as well as the inside of the outer tub. And clean...

    Smelly laundry: TMI

Borax is a handy laundry staple to have on hand for odor issues I agree that machines need to be cleaned out from time to time. Short of taking machine apart to do this (I have) you could try running the machine (empty) with hot water and a good dose of washing soda to break loose the gunk...

Pet Hair & Your Laundry, How to Cope..

The old Top loading washers like FF or some of the old Kenmores and whirlpool washers that had a pump running continuously..recirculating wash and rinse water (waterfall flow) passing over a removable filter, I think would work well? Or keep the pet outside !😂
