pretty dead? It's got tons of higher learning, great hospitals and some really good restaurants. Not to mention a renovated train station and a major highway that connects with other major highways. Oh and now a brand new baseball stadium. I can't ever recall it being dead.

So basically. You had to put the dishes in clean and this Tappan  just rinsed them?  I don't see how splashing water against a greasy dish or lipstick stained mug or glass is going to clean them. They would have been better off asking Whirlpool or GE or White Consolidated for an OEM contract.  

I'm only guessing but that dishwasher reminds me of my Whirlpool portable that was new in 1987.  I didn't have the fully electronic control panel.  So I'm thinking that dishwasher is from the 1980's ?
