Hey, let’s be nice about that Monkey Wards Norge! They make noise so you know they were doing something! I as of late have become a Maytag fan, but must agree the agitation is less than vigorous, but do enjoy how quiet and dependable they are. But I still love my Wards Norge washers…KLUNK!

    1976 Lady Kenmore Pair

My ‘85 LK set is one of my daily drivers. The dryer does have the “medium” heat option, and neither the washer nor the dryer has a console light…

Most & Least Effective Washing Machine Lint Filtration Systems.

Hey Wait a Minute (or wait a “Lint-a-Minute” So as some of you already know, I’m a huge Norge/Wards fan and therefore a big advocate for the burp-a-lator agitator with lint filter pan. I have a GE Filter-Flo, Wards Signature, Maytags, Whirlpool bed of nails filter, Amana circular lint filter...

Why Are Washer Cycles Built Into the Timer Knob?

Interesting to note that my Maytag 806 washer has a separate Permanent Press cycle, still with the options of selecting wash and spin speeds (via a separate button control), yet it spins at normal speed despite selecting the slow spin option when in the Permanent Press cycle. Is there something...

the dues of being a washer collector

Yeah, when I share my appliance hobby with folks, I usually get a double-take, and I follow it up with “it’s a very practical hobby!” A lot of people compare it to restoring old cars — something else I’d like to get into maybe when I retire. Oh Lord, where am I going to put all this stuff...

    Launching Of Frigidaire Front Loader

Here in NorCal this week, we’re basking in temps in the low 60s, albeit nighttime temps down to the high 30s. I have most of my collection in a separate unheated garage and only have issues with my Maytag 208 when it gets cold — takes a couple minutes to get up to normal agitation speed.

New Vintage Catalog Website (Sears, JCPenney, Montgomery Ward)

Thank you for the responses. I love the simplicity of the controls and the machines were awesome. The washer with its loud pump and rapid ramp-up spin and of course burp-a-lator agitator. The dryer was amazing with its back-fan that literally blew clothes onto the floor if your opened the...

    Belt drive.

Speaking of Kenmore Agitators… Yes, I would agree the Vari-Flex is great and versatile. And the Roto-Flex is amazing as well. I have had both and currently have a Lady Kenmore with a Penta-Swirl and although it doesn’t look like much, has surprising turnover and cleaning capability as well.

New Vintage Catalog Website (Sears, JCPenney, Montgomery Ward)

And there they are, in the Montgomery Ward Spring/Summer 1962 catalog on page 918 items “A” and “B”…my Grandma’s Signature set that got me started with this whole washer thing! I’d give my eye-teeth for that set, or at least the washer. I know a couple of you guys out there have a similar...
