The wash speed Well that Twin tub does give that washing a good session !!! It’s lovely to see machines brought back to life and being enjoyed by everyone …. It just seems strange hearing a spinner motor racing away and the wash tub going around and the spinner being static !!! Well Done...

Hotpoint supermatic .One for the UK guys

They turn up on eBay The tub nuts are a little tricky to get off but I’ve been able to find a replacement from time to time and therefore cut the old one off . I’ve done this with a hot knife before to prevent damage to the tub enamel . Keep your eye out on eBay . If I see anything I will let...

Hotpoint supermatic .One for the UK guys

Heat it up If the machine is watertight I would get it up to almost a boil and then stick some gloves on and try to see if the screw thread will move .

From the West Coast to the Midwest - a Bendix restoration

Heaters I do love the heaters in the machines and the reasons behind the popularity of them in the UK semi automatics is down to inadequate domestic hot water systems and also the washing powders on the market at the time . We were a little obsessed with boiling things up to get things white...

From the West Coast to the Midwest - a Bendix restoration

Brilliant John that “ Snow White Bendix “ looks very similar to the bolt down Triomatic in the UK .. Obviously the units in the UK run on 240 v but interestingly the element is always in the bottom of the tubs and not on the tub back like Bens Gyromatic … The Triomatic pauses until the water...

From the West Coast to the Midwest - a Bendix restoration

Fantastic job Ben it’s a really good job and love the colour of the dials and the door boot …The work is fabulous .. I remember seeing the machine in its unrestored state …. It’s unusual to have a water heater in an American washer .. water heaters in the Uk Bendix are on most of the Semi...

Adding sacrificial anode to suds pump? 1951 kenmore

Be very clear When you engage the power coater be clear to get them to mask Off any threaded holes in any of the castings along with any counter face surfaces that mustn’t be coated . The company I use are totally brilliant and reliable and have learnt from the requirements ! Good luck Darren

Adding sacrificial anode to suds pump? 1951 kenmore

Two ideas . I’ve done a couple of methods in the past . A resin coating of all the parts that are made of the alloy metal after they have been cleaned up . As a belt and braces approach I’ve had the bits powder coated . It’s a really good process as the metal Is totally protected from water...
