    British Twintub Washing Machines 1959 - 1990

Liberator twin These photos are a little rubbish as the machine is back together so it’s difficult to see the undercarriage !!! Your right Keith the black plugs fill in the holes where the filter flow hose would have passed through and the other is where the suds return was on the 1420 ...

    Pre-War Bendix Restored!

Water heaters In the Uk at the time when the Bendix was being sold most houses in the UK didn’t have a easy supply of hot water . Most homes were heating water from back boilers fuelled by coal fired or solid fuel boilers . Therefore a heater in the bendix was brilliant . The water can be...

Welcome to the new Lincoln Launderama

The Bells The Bells ....... Well the bell indicator came from an antique market/ junk . The bell itself and the Bakelite switch came from Ian Hazelhurst another good friend! It runs off a 12 volt transformer and Mathew Thomas tested the transformer to make sure we weren’t about to blow the box...

    Bendix Washer Pump Impeller Extraction

This is the seal profile This is the type of seal and because the profile is so small I got two of them into the pump housing . This gave 4 water barriers on the shaft as each seal is a double . Ideally the seal works better on a stainless steel drive shaft but I cleaned the drive shaft up...

    Bendix Washer Pump Impeller Extraction

Seal The impeller is an alloy and I wonder if depending on the state of the screw hole you could re thread the hole and get a replacement screw to fit the resized screw hole . An alternative could be to seal the existing damaged screw hole up and bore a new hole completely on the opposite side...

A two man job I’ve had the same problem with the machines I’ve worked on !! I applied loads of heat from a flamed blow torch not a hot air heated version . Once the screw is out I tapped the impeller with a small chisel and small hammer where the drive shaft goes into the impeller . At the...
