    Cold water washing has arrived

Can`t we even take a joke anymore these days without getting offended? Dan you get a "like" for making me lough out loud when I read your post. As a gay man I`m not that easily offended anymore and as a formerly (at young age) bicurious man I can tell you what you breeders play for fun in can...

    Cold water washing has arrived

Smearing traces of fecal matter and who knows what else from not properly washed hotel towels in one`s face and all over your body which could be from anybody is a whole different matter to me than voluntarily exchanging all kinds of germs and stuff with someone I find hot enough to have sex with.

Correct dose of HE detergent based on sudsing

Knowing your water hardness is a good start, but judging the soil level can be tricky especially if your`re dealing with something that might not be visible but depending on someone`s body chemistry it can be present in abundance like body oils for example. If I have a lot of t-shirts in a load...

Correct dose of HE detergent based on sudsing

Isn`t slipperyness of the water mostly tied to alkalinity and thus more of a meaningful factor when using a powder? Maybe I`m doing it all wrong, but I always judge by the suds level and it never seems to fail on me.

    Cold water washing has arrived

Launderess, sorry if I wasn`t clear enough. I didn`t have healthcare laundry in mind, I meant hygiene regulations like they exist for hotels, barbershops, catering and so on. From what I gather regulations for those types of buisinesses in Germany seem to be applied locally and individually from...

    Cold water washing has arrived

Sorry Jon, I must have missed that you were comparing Tide Pro Liquid to Tide Pro Powder. I assumed we were only discussing the powder product pictured in your first post. Bob mentioned he`s still working through a big box of Tide with Bleach powder so I compared the ingredients of both. I did...

    Cold water washing has arrived

Yes it`s a powder just like Tide Professional is. On the left side I have listed the Tide plus Bleach ingredients and on the right side are Tide Professional`s ingredients (except for the fragrance chemicals, I left those out) What I mean? Both detergents are nearly identical.

    Cold water washing has arrived

If someone`s top priority regarding laundry is to save energy and minimize wear on clothes, fine then cold water washing might be their holy grail. Not gonna argue with this, we`re all different individuals with different needs. But one of the world`s largest detergent manufacturers offering...

Stain Tests: Tide Evo Tiles; Tide Ultimate Stain Release; EC30 Tiles

Thanks Eugene! I`m not sure about the other stains but AFAIK cocoa as in Hershey`s syrup is a protein based stain just like grass or blood and therefore should respond well the enzyme protease. What a relief (LOL) to see it came out at 140°F because it kind of confirms my preaching that hot...

Eugene, that would be awesome if your`re still in the mood to do another stain test

Stain Tests: Tide Evo Tiles; Tide Ultimate Stain Release; EC30 Tiles

Tom, do you think it wouldn`t make a difference because there are no bleaching agents in Tide Evo Tiles? I`ve mostly been using liquid detergents for years and can tell from personal experience that a cold start boil wash will make a huge difference, even on a lot of bleachable stains. What...

    Tide Original

Now I`ve done some loads with it in the Miele in my "natural habitat" and all I can say is I really like this Tide Original. Some here have repeatedly said you`d need less of a European detergent because of greater average water hardness compared to the US but I can not confirm this...

    Tide Original

So I`ve put this cute little bottle of Tide from Dollar Tree, full to the brim (I topped it up with the rest of another bottle that I used in the US) after sitting around for almost year to an extensive test now. I did three loads in the US, one in a HE Whirlpool Toploader with a center post...

Stain Tests: Tide Evo Tiles; Tide Ultimate Stain Release; EC30 Tiles

I bet if the Speedqueen could do a cold or warm start to 95 °C wash there wouldn`t be a trace of anything left. But of course it`s best to make the conditions as hard as possible for a detergent test and I think all three performed very well in those conditions.

Have Increasing Energy Prices Caused Change in Your Laundry Routine

No I haven`t changed my laundry habits and I won`t but I`ve reduced my energy consumption where it really matters like having a less pleasantly heated space in winter which means wearing a thick pullover at home or having a blanket by my couch and so on. And when weather permits I go by...

    Vintage Dishwasher Detergent formulas

Weren`t even the most caustic vintage dishwasher and laundry detergents water glass based instead of lye?

    Tide Tiles

But who am I kidding. As soon as there will be some Ariel Tiles launched in Germany I`ll probably be the first one to try them out for myself. But that`s just because I cannot refuse a new detergent not because I like the whole concept.

    Tide Tiles

Henrik you have a very valid point in saying if everybody thinks this way nobody will ever do anything. But keep in mind that for most of the older generation like myself it`s much harder to suddenly change their habits than for someone younger like you who doesn`t have yet a history of doing...

    Tide Tiles

From the FAQs "What is PVA? Why do you have it in your products? PVA stands for PolyVinyl Alcohol. PVA is used in EC30 to create the solid swatch form. PVA dissolves completely and is biologically degradable" and so on... Like I said before and to sum it up again the only environmental...
