New to me GE vintage refrigerator what year was it?

1951-1952ish.  I believe they added shelves on the door in 1953 or 1954.   I believe you'll find a date stamped on the start relay.

Grease Spots Coming from Maytag A606S

The trans seal may still be OK. If the agitator has not been removed for cleaning for a long time, the small amount of seepage from the transmission can cause sort of a grease to form on the agitator shaft, and if a chunk of that buildup breaks loose it will put grease spots on the clothes...

    New small ACs-inflation!

We have 3 window units in our apartment. I like the fact that I only have to pay to cool the bedroom at night. The other two are set to turn on an hour before I get up. When I get up, I turn the bedroom unit off.

    New small ACs-inflation!

I bought a $94 Haier 5000 BTU (made in China) air conditioner for the kitchen 21 years ago. I take it apart every 3 years or so to clean it, and it still works like new. It looks like this (not my picture):

    Dr Pepper

I like coffee flavored coffee, cola flavored cola, and I think I'll stick with Dr. Pepper flavored Dr. Pepper. I heard that Dr. Pepper just pushed Pepsi out of the #2 sales position. Dr. Pepper has been around since 1885, a year before Coke.

GE getting back into commercial laundry

As long as other brands are making fake commercial washers, GE/Haier might as well jump on the bandwagon.

the stupid and the Maytag jet clean dishwasher part 2

I ran my Maytag dishwasher on 'light wash' with the water heating option off and the water heater cranked up to 145 for 25 years, and never had a problem with dirty dishes, the plumbing, or the gas-fired tank water heater. The machine was eventually retired due to rusty dish racks. The extra...

    Cruise-O-Matic: Part Ten

There was a Chrysler Royal in my neighborhood when I was a kid. It may have been a step below the Newport, but it was still a Chrysler. Anyone remember the Cadillac Calais? It was like a DeVille with hand-cranked windows.
