If you think the 1959 Rambler wagon was ugly, perhaps you've never seen a 1959 Ford, Chevy, or Plymouth wagon.   I had a 1964 Rambler American.  I got 235,000 miles out of it.

My 1978 Ford LTD Landau Coupe, the last year for the big LTD, lasted 330,000 miles.  With it's 351W 2-barrel it always got an honest 22 MPG highway.  It was a wonderful highway car.

Reply #4 That's exactly the way I do it!   I've also noticed that the higher the thread count of the sheets, the more likely they are to form air pockets in the washer.    

I'd consider the old Maytag washers to be the Checker Cab of washing machines, good for 500,000 miles with no overhaul. And don't put down AMC, I've owned about 8 of them and every one of them held up better than the products from the "big-3" that my friends owned.

To me, IH refrigerators look a lot like the Sears Coldspot refrigerators from the same era which I believe were made by Seeger, which Whirlpool bought out in the mid-1950s.

If it's mildew, washing it again with a little chlorine bleach, a dose of detergent, and warm water will fix it.

Why not just build it into the price? To get people to reuse bags.

I dry my towels on hot.  Drying on medium would mean longer tumbling, more wear, and more lint in the filter.

I find the old 2-belt Maytag design to be elegant in it's simplicity.

I wouldn't blame the Chinese, I bought a 5000 BTU Haier 20 years ago and it works like new.   Many appliances and electonics sold at Walmart are 'special' Walmart versions.  I buy my appliances at an appliance store.

"Not so big on fancy features or efficiency." If you're only washing 3 or 4 loads a week, and you live where water actually falls out of the sky, longivity is more imporant that energy efficiency.
