A Vacbear Birthday, Beamish and Building works....

Happy birthday Al! Looks like a fantastic time was had by all. Nice to see Beamish is still exactly as I remember when our family visited when I was 5/6. I remember sitting in that classroom and the dentist as if it was yesterday. Look forward to catching up with you all soon! Jon xx

    "summit"dishwashers

These look to be rebadged Arçelik (Beko) machines, made in Turkey. Not the best, but by far from the worst. The best of the budget European brands in my experience. Jon http://https//www.beko.co.uk/full-size-integrated-dishwasher-din16210

    A Vintage Halloween 2017

Thank you to the hosts for another marvellous weekend - plenty of laughs and wonderful to meet up with everybody again, and of course credit to Al’s excellent catering. As usual it all passes too quickly and before you know it you’re saying goodbye to friendly faces - old and new, and turning...

    Tumble Dryers

Hotpoint etc have been made in Yate, Bristol, at the former Creda factory before, during and after the safety fiasco. They are the only (loose) remnant left of Creda.

    Tumble Dryers

Sensor dryers In the 15 years we’ve had sensor dryers in the family, I’ve never encountered a problem with performance, over/underdrying, or artificially long drying times. This is across the three formats (vented, condenser, and heat pump). This includes: 2 sensor, vented dryers my parents...

    UK Hotpoint 'Next Generation' Series

Hotpoint 9540 Hi Paul, Great thread as always. The spin slider machines have always been my favourite Hotpoints - I have a pristine example of the 9540, albeit with the mottled door rather than the glossy door (unfortunately the seller had damaged it whilst moving it to his garage ready for...

    Miele Wash Rinses

It does at least one interim rinse before the final rinse, so you still get at least 2 rinses overall.

    Siemens equals embarrasment

Only the TOL Siemens and Bosch washing machines are German made nowadays. Everything else; i.e. BOL-MOL washers, dryers, the majority of dishwashers, refrigeration; is made elsewhere in the EU.

New Hotpoint's Without Eco Wash Launched (FUTURA)

44% residual moisture content is nothing new, 1600rpm machines have achieved that since the year dot. Jon

    ARE YOU SERIOUS PANASONIC???????

Interesting - not much room for manoeuvre for the drum!  I can see why you have mentioned before that it is quite fussy on spinning.  Am I right in thinking Panasonic have fan cooled electronics?   Jon

    ARE YOU SERIOUS PANASONIC???????

I see - on the Bekos here the Synthetics cycle covers what you would wash on easy care & delicates. However if you press anti crease it does a deep level wash and rinse, deletes the rinse spins and does a gentle final spin pretty much the same as a delicates cycle.  They are very flexible...

    ARE YOU SERIOUS PANASONIC???????

My mum and Nana both have Beko machines, you can select the Prewash option on most of the cycles.  Mum's is a WMB91242, nana's is a WMB71642.  In fact in the manual it advises you to select Prewash when washing curtains on the delicate cycle.   Jon

Europe phosphate regulations- all STPP out within 2016 in DW products?

I have used phosphate-free dishwasher detergents, and have to say I have not noticed a detriment in performance.  Our washing detergents haven't had phosphates for years and results are still excellent.   Jon

What (if any) is your favorite modern DW

Bosch or Miele, have strayed from these brands and always go back to them.  Our Bosch model will wash a full load with only 6 litres of water with stunning results.   Jon

    Cool-Down on Miele F.L. Machine

Mine cools down as it should above 75*C, but then my model is almost 10 years old and of the last 5kg generation.   Jon

    ARE YOU SERIOUS PANASONIC???????

How about Beko?  Good value for money and offer large capacities as well as delicate cycles with prewash options.

HE, Eco, Low water and Energy, lets hear your positive experiences!

In terms of efficiency, the standard cycle on my washer uses 42l or 9 gallons, the dishwasher uses 6l or 1.3 gallons.   The results?  Well our laundry and dishes are as clean as can be, and there isn't anything I have to rewash either in the washer or dishwasher.   Jon

Henene, the Miele 5kg drum volume is 49 l, the 6kg are 54.

Hoover A3110 Washing Machine Restoration 1980 Model...

Great stuff - it's a testament to Hoover that these machines can be completely stripped down and put together as new over 30 years since they were discontinued.  This thread is giving me the kick up the backside I need to get working on our A3110 - replacing the timer on my A3110 is a job I keep...
