I especially agree with your statement #1: They will compare two machines made by the same brand that are essentially the same, and then say that one is better than to other. This isn't new and this behavior goes all the way back to the 1950s at least with Washing Machines.

The one you linked are the ones I've generally used. I believe I only have one pump with an external fan like in the image you show, although I've had no issue with it as well.

Did you check that with a very full wash load? A small load might not cause the issue to show up.

I have no doubt about that John now too. What threw me is that same motor has worked flawlessly in the Apex for the past few years. It just the difference in motor clutch designs. It's good to know about those motors codes now.
