Whirlpool VMW washer clicking during agitation

Glenn, I think I fixed the imbedding issue, thanks for the tip. Dan, as I told John a few months ago, this was the decision the whole family came to, my wife, my parents who helped me pay for the new machines, and myself, after my direct drive washer began leaking oil. No one else was on board...

Whirlpool VMW washer clicking during agitation

I don't hate the washer whatsoever. I actually like mine, but that clicking has me concerned because I didn't think it's supposed to do that during agitation at all. I know the shifter sometimes clicks loudly when switching from agitation to spin. However, this seems to be in rhythm to the...

Whirlpool VMW washer clicking during agitation

My washer, model WTW4816FW3, has started making a clicking sound during the agitation portion of the wash cycle. I'd say it's been happening for a week or so. At first I thought maybe I overloaded it, because it does it worse when auto sense is selected, as opposed to when I use deep wash...

Does anyone else hate the "normal" cycle on new washers?

It's funny that this thread came back up. The washer I was talking about in the original post, a basic Whirlpool top loader WTW4816FW, died in 2022 due to what I now believe was a failed mode shifter as it was stuck between drain and spin. I have since learned that issue could have been fixed...

Found out something about Whirlpool direct drives....

In an attempt to understand this thread better, I just listened to JayKay18's '94 machine washing towels, and I noticed it has a sort of resonant woo sound on neutral drain that a lot of machines from like the 2000's don't seem to have. Is this the sound you all are referring to with the older...

SQ - Considering switching from TL to FL. Need advice

I don't have any personal experience with FL SQ's aside from using them years ago in the dorms at college. Everyone who has one though seems to love it, so I'm sure you won't go wrong. Ryne

    How I Imagine a 2024 Maytag Helical

Reply #10 "Top loaders really just need to die out already" But Dan, don't you use a vintage TL as your daily driver? If you feel that FL's get your clothes cleaner than a TL, why not use an FL and just have the vintage machines as collection pieces? Or are you talking strictly about modern TL's?

Do plain old knee length black tube socks not exist anymore?

Reply #13 Gold Toe socks wear like iron. LOL they'd better, given that two packs cost 40 bucks!

Do plain old knee length black tube socks not exist anymore?

I found some Gold Toe over-the-calf men's athletic socks on Amazon. They came two days ago and she really likes them. They are thicker so her AFO's don't rub on her legs at all and since the socks are for men, they're wider at the top so don't dig into her legs. I bought two packs, so six pairs.

Best Vitntage Washer for Modern HE Adaption

Whirlpool/Kenmore direct drive with the catalyst treatment. The technology was already there, if we'd just gone a bit further with it.

Number of Cycles on Modern Washing Machines

I actually use the heavy duty cycle for most things, because normal on my machine gives a lower water level than what I need and also it has dumbed down water temps. The heavy duty cycle's auto sense function is a lot more accurate in my opinion, and I use that unless I'm doing a particularly...

Do plain old knee length black tube socks not exist anymore?

Thanks guys for the recommendations. Per the first reply, I looked on Amazon (duh, why didn't I think of that?) and ended up getting her these in black. It was $40 for two packs so I hope they sing her a little song every morning or something. :D...

    Facebook and Instagram are down!

Was just on Facebook and it worked fine for me. However, my mother-in-law got herself locked out of her account earlier this morning by trying to get in too many times, so that's probably related to this issue.

Do plain old knee length black tube socks not exist anymore?

Because of Stacye's cerebral palsy, she has to wear AFO braces on both legs that reach up to roughly the knee. Consequently, she wears socks underneath them that are this length since the socks have to be pulled up to just above where the braces stop. For years she's worn plain black athletic...

MS Is Killing Off Mail & Calendar - It's Redesigned Outlook Or Nothing

Gmail has stopped supporting their basic HTML format for their web email, and I was just going to switch to windows mail, but now looks like I'll have to use Outlook instead? The regular Gmail is very hard to navigate with a screen reader so I always preferred the basic HTML version. As of now I...

Whirlpool VMW washer and auto sense

Reply #5 Jamie, which cycle are you using for your synthetic loads? Not all cycles are created equal when it comes to the auto sense feature. Delicates, for instance, will fill higher than other cycles because presumably the thought is that delicate items require more water to cushion them from...

Whirlpool VMW washer and auto sense

Reply #2 Huh, strange, perhaps it's just a quirk of my machine in particular. I was just kinda mystified because I thought cool water would put in less water, not more, if indeed it was to make any difference at all... Perhaps it was the thick sweatshirts I added that made a difference and it...

Whirlpool VMW washer and auto sense

I noticed this afternoon something interesting about my Whirlpool washer's auto sense function. Model number is WTW4816FW3 for those who haven't been following along. I normally use warm water to wash clothes and hot water for towels and sheets. My usual cycle is heavy duty w/auto sense...

    GE vs LG

"if you're already set up with 220v and venting, to me it's a no brainer, stick with that." I agree with this. I think these could be amazing machines, but to me it's just a whole different experience than a separate washer and dryer. Certainly they are better for the environment, and perhaps...

    Speed Queen FF7009BN and DF7004BG

Regarding modern FL washers Not only should manufacturers offer them in the mid-range 3.5 cu. ft. size, they should sell more stripped-down versions, just a few basic cycles, no app, and no WiFi. I believe there's a sizable market for washers that just do the job without a lot of fanfare. For...
