    Green Bags

Commercial on TV is advertising Green Bags. They say they will keep produce fresh up to 30 days because the absorb ethylene (sp?) gas which is naturally generated by produce and contributes to spoilage. Anyone tried/investigated? Strawberries seem to "die" so fast. Maybe it is worth a try?

    Privacy Policy

Yada, yada, yada - but... Thinking about it, I see no privacy policy posted here. While I am 100% confident no information is given to marketeers, etc, I wonder how much information is kept/stored about browsing habits, etc, that could be subpoened/discovered by authorities. I cannot protest...

Spin & Sparkle (like an electronic toothbrush)

OK. I don't believe 99.9999% of what I see on TV adverts. This one (something like an electric toothbrush that cleaned everything, including jewelry) did not loosen jewelry settings like an ultrasonic cleaner would. Does anyone have any belief or experience that ultrasonic cleaning would ever...

Space shuttle - what would you do?

NASA says the missing foam is not enough to make a difference. Would you want to be up there and come back with it the way it is?

Not to be <can't think of the word>

But with the chance Robert might have been on that bridge... Perhaps you (Robert) are the heart and soul of this website and it just couldn't continue without you, but then again it would be hard to replace it and the community it has created with something else. If something freakish did...

    How to glue plastics

Broken toilet seat hinge (plastic). Can't just buy the hinge from the manufacturer, have to buy the entire toilet seat (special size/shape) for $50. So want to try gluing the plastic. Haven't found a definitive guide to gluing on the net - might be out there, but searching is just so difficult...

    Used Duet "structure" and purchase?

Have to decide by 11 tomorrow morning whether to buy a used set of Duets (9400 washer, 9250 dryer). These are not the same as the ones I mentioned in the "yellow" forum. No pedestals, $1100 instead of $1000. I thought I read these are stackable, but do they need a special part to stack? Would be...

    Old fans

Thought there was a thread about fans somewhere, but can't find it. (At least "fan" is not in the subject.) So - here are a couple beauties: http://www.hudsonscustommachining.com

    2-year old Kitchen Aid appliances

Looking at 2-year old Kitchen Aid appliances. Waiting to get the actual model numbers (fridge, electric stove, dishwasher, microwave). I'm told they are/were top-of-the-line. But of course top-of-the-line doesn't mean they have the best features between manufacturers. Any opinions before I...

Whirlpool washing machine needs repair - oil leak?

Model LLR6144A Guy says when it stopped working and he moved it, there was a 6" oil/grease spot on the floor. Doesn't agitate or spin. Should I avoid it? He can spin the tub by hand, but not move the agitator by hand. I'm most worried about what the oil spot might indicate (I probably have the...

    Paint

So, except for having a professional paint job done, what do people think is the best way to repaint an appliance? I've done it before with enamel paint, but that was before I had the expertise of everyone here to tell me something better... Is there a special (manufacturer supplied) paint or...

Dang - didn't bookmark the parts site

A few weeks ago I had found a parts website that would give an indication of what different models a particular part would fit. But I didn't bookmark it and can't remember what it was. Anyone recognize/remember such a parts site? (Trying to find out if the lower access panel and toe panel on a...

    Documentation

Has anyone actually been in the business of major appliance repair? If so, can you give us an idea of the amount of documentation out there? Is it too massive to consider providing online? Is it too massive and would overwhelm Robert's website? I still have that idea. I would certainly like to...

Kenmore Elite Dryer - model 63932

Or in "Sears speak" 110.63932101. I hate their website. So I picked up a free Kenmore Elite today (didn't work). Heavy duty, King size capacity, Quiet Pack II. Too much of a pain to actually get it to the outlet (electric dryer). Thought I could test it at the kitchen range outlet, but the plug...

    Replacing kitchen appliances

Thinking about replacing my kitchen appliances with something more modern (to eventually sell the house in a year or two.) But since I will be using them (or may stay in house longer), don't want to make a "mistake". Anything to avoid? Anything to strive for? Been looking on craigslist for...

    1-18 timer disassembly

Don't know if it will be of much use to anyone, but when trying to wash a heavier load today to see if I could cause the spin to act badly (implying I need the spin roller I ordered but haven't received yet - nor do I see a charge on my credit card) the machine stopped periodically. Past...

1-18 fill/rinse spray "ring of water"

What I have noticed after cleaning the tub ring and somewhat the hose with slots that fills and rinses is that parts of it produce a spray that goes over the top. Standing in front with the front of the machine off I can feel a spray mist on my feet. It appears the spray slots in the hose allow...
