What is your favorite washer of all time?

My favorite washer is personally the Maytag dependable care following the direct drives from Whirlpool. I also like Speed Queen washers and the GE Filter Flos. I now own a direct drive and it’s a great machine I’d still love to get a dependable care. The reason why my username is...

    The Maytag Dependable Cars

This was my favorite washing machine of all time, even better than the Whirlpool direct drives. They lasted at least 25 years if properly maintained, much longer than any new machine. They also had great cleaning action. They cleaned well but weren’t as aggressive as direct drives. Maytag...

    The Speed Queen TC5

The Speed Queen TC5 is actually a good modern washer but I can’t have an opinion on the TR series but I’ve worked on some. Not too sure about how good the TR is but that also seems well built. Speed Queen washers are built like tanks but are pretty expensive and they will last 25 years on...

    LG Fridges are junk!

LG fridges are junk, I keep trashing them for bad compressors. They are so unreliable. Even a Samsung fridge is better than an LG at this point. If you want a reliable fridge, just get a Whirlpool, GE, or Frigidaire. Get anything but LG.

Finally got rid of my 2019 Whirlpool VMW

I had to deal with my horrible Whirlpool VMW WTW5000DW3 washer for 6 years, the bearing is bad and eventually the hub went out. I decided to get a new washer instead of fixing this one. It had the impeller and didn’t wash great. It also had spray rinsing. The bearing went out and eventually the...

    A 200 GE Model-T washer I got in

I now usually get the newer GE’s and the Whirlpool VMWs for repairs, I got several VMWs today (none of them roaring today and most were repairable this time). I got in this 2004 GE Model-T WCSR4170D5WW, they said it wasn’t spinning and I had to remove a sock from the pump, a sock got stuck in...

Just got in a VMW with a TON of problems

I got in a 🗑️ Whirlpool WTW5000DW3 washer (made on 14th week of 2021) with bad motor bearings, a bad drain pump, bad suspension rods, a stripped basket hub, worn gearcase splines, wallowed out center sleeve, and a bad shift actuator. also had dings and scratches. This is probably the most...

The Maytag MVW7230/7230. What do you think about it?

What is your opinion on the MVW7232H/MVW7230H. The reason why I’m not saying the full number is because there are two variants, “HC” and “HW”, which are the same exact machines except for the color. Anyways, I don’t like these newer VMAX machines because they don’t rinse well in my opinion and...

    Whirlpool VMW washer

This was a washer that was released in 2010 and is still manufactured today. Not a fan of them and are prone to many problems, some of the most frequent problems I encounter with them is the suspension rods, splutch, or the shift actuator. Another very common failure for these is a loud...

Whirlpool washer won’t spin - know what it is

As of right now the drive hub just stripped out on my 2019 Whirlpool WTW5000DW3 washer. Washplate moves independently from the drum. When it tries to spin it makes a weird noise and clothes come out soaked. The drive hubs aren’t too expensive but the bearings are also shot on my machine as it...

I usually do these in a comment but this time I’m doing it in a post

I got in multiple washers today and I was surprised when I got in a Speed Queen with bad bearings. I got in a 2017 Speed Queen top loader with bad bearings. Yes, bad bearings. Roaring like an airplane on spin cycle. A Whirlpool WTW5057LW0 washer (made on 41st week of 2021). Bad bearings, very...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

Did you ever take apart a transmission from a VMW? The residential and commercial transmissions look about the same on the inside.

    The Defense of the Model-T

Many people are against the GE Model-Ts, but personally, they weren’t too bad and are much more reliable than any machine today. They did have suspension rods, but they were better than the ones used on VMW machines. They also weren’t too loud on the spin cycle. The Filter Flo was getting...

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

I heard a lot of bad things about GE Model-Ts and HydroWaves, but in my opinion they weren’t too bad and Model-Ts didn’t explode if you loaded them properly. In fact, there are way more videos of VMWs failing than Model-Ts or HydroWaves. I had a nice 1990s Kenmore direct drive and it failed in...

Which Whirlpool VMW is most prone to bad bearings?

Is it the older ones or new ones? As a repair tech, I’ve seen VMW’s of all types with bad bearings, but which one is most prone to it? Is it the stainless drum or porcelain drum type? Is it the smaller or bigger drum versions? Is it the older or newer models that are more prone? I know on these...

    Repairing more washing machines

I got in thirteen different machines today: One Whirlpool WTW4816FW2 - Manufactured on 33rd week 2019. Bad bearings - roaring spin cycle. I’ve been getting a lot of roaring VMWs lately. Not fixing. Seems to have other good parts, just roaring. One Whirlpool WTW4855HW1 washer - bad bearings and...

    Did gearcase replacement on Maytag

Don’t normally change gearcases but I had a 2012 model (WTW4950XW2) with a bad control board with a good used gearcase which is similar to this, and I actually saved it. Put it on 2010 Maytag Bravos X machine and no more roar. Runs quietly and smoothly now. Used to sound like a jet engine. As...

    Got in multiple machines today

Whirlpool WTW4816FW2 washer - bad bearings and loud on the spin cycle. Roaring on the spin, manufactured on the 33rd week of 2019. Not worth fixing as it will need a transmission. This machine has good control board, water valves, suspension rods, drain pump, actuator, splutch, and tub...

Got in multiple washing machines today

One is a 2016 Whirlpool WTW4816FW0 washer, has bad bearings and will be scraped. Run a test and heard it roaring. One is a 2019 Whirlpool WTW4816FW2 (made on 6th week of 2019), suspension rods are bad and I thought it was worth fixing until I spun the drum manually hearing the sound of roaring...

    Whirlpool washer quality

I’m an appliance repair tech, I just got in this new 2023 Maytag MVW6230HC3 washer, and I spun the drum by hand and it had bad bearings. Once it spun up it sounded like a jet engine and was roaring really loud. Not worth fixing. This is a 2023 machine, already has bad bearings. I also got in a...
