I have been excited to finally install my KDS-18 in the place of a vintage GE unit, but we were not able to remove the GE. We are more familiar with the KDS and KUDS. Do we have a not yet retired pro somewhere between San Jose and Marin County?
Many thanks,
Kate
A self-cleaning wall oven from the late 50's (JKP07) cannot lock. When the door is open, you can press the latch release and slide the latch handle all the way to the right. When the door is closed, the latch handle will not move. The slider-slot on the back of the door stays covered by a...
How can I detach and remove the "wrap-a-round" front panels from a KD-17? I see a couple of screws on each side of the interior.
Similarly, how to detach the lower panel.
Thanks....

I will be giving up a KUDS-23 with rusty upper rack rail in SF peninsula area, and a KDS-57A in Marin County (San Francisco area.) Would anyone like to rescue either one for parts?
Can someone please tell me how to check out the drying operation of a KUDS 23 without going through a complete cycle, or whether that is possible?
I am remembering the plate warmer of earlier days, which would be handy. Is that long gone, now?
Thanks.
Kate
I have been unable to find a replacement for the upper rack in my KUDS23. I am wondering about a possible repair.
The vinyl covering on the piece containing the left-side rollers has opened up, exposing the metal rail... which is now rusted. If I can get rid of the rust (Evapo-Rust has...
Do we have a professional repair tech in the SF to San Jose area, knowledgeable and sympathetic about Hobart and early successor dishwashers?
Hoping you are out there....

Is anyone willing to part with an upper rack for a KUDS-23 in good condition? If so, would love to hear from you. The plastic along the sides can detract from an otherwise good machine.

Here are a couple of vintage Kitchenaid dishwashers offered in northern Calif... a non-convertible portable, and an earlier one.

The movie "The Moon is Blue" has a scene in which Maggie MacNamara uses a dishwasher which reminds me of a KDC-15 I once knew. TCM is bringing the (1958) film back tomorrow nigh (2/28) at 10 pm west coast, but probably later in the east. Would the 15 be right for 1958, or is it earlier?

This is to follow up on the screeching dryer in Marin County, which is now a fait accompli.
I found a couple of 5-star folks on Yelp. I asked the first one how long he had been doing that sort of work, and he finally admitted to 51 years. I said, "Then you probably know what a DE806 is," to...
I have a screeching Maytag DE806 in Sausalito, north of San Francisco. Do we have a member or recommended service person in that area?
I used to have the matching washer, but the garden variety person who showed up to repair it (before I found this forum) convinced me that it had to be...
Does anyone recall when Corning made double ovens? It was a beauty back in the day when the KDS-17 was new. A door spring has sprung. Can anyone suggest a source for a replacement? Or must the broken one or it's mate be taken to a parts place?
Am I correct in believing that door panels on a convertible portable would be interchangeable with the comparable built-in model... i.e. panels for a 57 with a 17?
Thanks for your expertise,
Kate
I have saved a few parts from my working KDS-15 in case anyone is interested. They will be free to a good home, but for cost to ship from California.

Seller advises that it has been necessary, of late, to close DW door, click "cancel", and then choose type of wash cycle... which does the wash in fine fashion. Does that make sense?
Thank you,
Kate
