Hi all, this time Hotpoint through the 70s-90s. Starting in the early 70s with the square door 1100rpm automatic, quite ahead of its time and extremely rare.
The classic purple machines start around the early to mid 70s and end in 1979. It was around this time the door shape changed and purple...
Hi all
I have shared these on another site but realise that some may not have seen them as you are not members of dominant social media site! I had the idea to compare washers over the years to see how they have changed. It is interesting to see when new models came out.
It is important to...
Hi all
Today I am going to take delivery of a 7kg Ebac washer. Got this at a reduced price and on a whim decided to purchase to test. I know some of you will be interested as these are still very rare only coming out fairly recently. There are no videos of these yet operating. I hope to change...
Apologies if you've already seen this but I thought it should be shared.

Hi all
I thought I would share with you all this little gem I came across. It gives a quick guide to the washers of 1979, with spin speeds etc..
The one I'm very interested in is the 800 spin Hirundo/Indesit. Never knew they did a faster spin. Does anyone know if it span drained?
Rob

Hi all
I have been sent an email by someone asking for my address as they want to send me a Miele present?? I'm a bit suspicious about this. They said it comes from seeing my Miele vids and they can't say too much.
What do you think and has anyone else received anything?
Many thanks
Rob
Hi all
Does anyone remember a wonderful play called 'Absurd Person Singular' by Alan Ayckbourn?
It's set in 3 different kitchens over 3 Christmases with 3 very different couples. The picture attached will be the first couple and the wife cannot stop cleaning, there is a discussion over her...
Just a bit of fun! Can you name the machines? This is from a 73-74 catalogue and thankfully a washer page has been taken. I also notice the ebay name of supermatic so maybe one of us.
Anyway enjoy and good luck to whomever bids.
Rob...

You might have seen a few weeks ago I mentioned a show by Garry Lavin called 'Every home should have one'. It was a great series on how our lives have been improved by domestic inventions the washing machine being one.
Well Garry kindly wrote to me and has uploaded some short clips...

Hi all
I'm always fascinated by other cultures and languages. What have you got hiding in your World Music Collection?
I'm a big fan of Mylene Farmer, a french pop star somewhere between Madonna and Kate Bush. She is of course a gay icon and has been going since 1984.
Here is her most recent...
Hi all
I got this today and just loved it! If only it were true!
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will...
Hi all
Haven't done one of these for a while. Throughout my childhood Chrome and Square doors were the norm! I loved them both. Here is a dedication to these lovely machines.
Firstly an early 80s Hoover round Chrome door.
Hi all you wonderful people! I know similar threads have been created but haven’t seen one for a while, certainly not for European machines.
I’ve been wondering if new machines really are worse than the rose tinted machines from yester-year? Don’t get me wrong I love vintage machines but really...
Hello all
Haven’t been around much but I thought I would give you a low down on this machine. I have recently acquired a new Zanussi Jetsystem 1600 ZWF16581W. It was delivered yesterday and I had it up and running yesterday evening. It replaces a Whirlpool 1400 (not sure of age) which was left...
