    Tide Clean Boost Fabric Rinse

So how long has this been a thing? I just saw it last night at Menards on an end cap display, never seen it before. I assume this is simply a low Ph rinse sour akin to using vinegar? There were a couple other additives also as well as a reasonable fragrance additive. I left it on the shelf for...

Nice overview of the 240v US electrical system

Ran across this video today. Decent overview of how things work. This channel has other really well made videos also. He did quite an involved episode on the Toastmaster toaster that is worth a look too.

    A Secret Love on Netflix

This is one of the most touching documentaries I've ever seen, if you have Netflix it is worth a look. The director spends 7 years capturing a portion of these women's lives. The wealth of historical family photos and movies add lots of depth to the story.

    Interesting look at Japanese Appliances

I sometimes watch content from the YouTube channel Japanology. I ran across this video that highlights their appliances the other day. Interesting that they even have a vintage collector spotlighted at about the 22 min mark.

    Mexican Ariel

Has there ever been any discussion here on Ariel available here in the states? I bought a bag of this Ariel powder the other day at WalMart. Most all the writing on the package is Spanish. I haven't used it yet. Any thoughts on the stuff? The Ariel seems a bit more fragrant then I'd wish. How...

    Amazing photo "scanning" App

I just ran across this last night and I am pretty floored with this app. For anyone that has ever tried to take a photo of a photo to send to someone, this is a Google App to download and play with. It is the Google Photoscan App. The darned thing just works. You take a picture of the picture...

    The Great 78 Project

For those that love the world of music that revolves at 78 RPM, the Internet Archive is undertaking a project to digitize and preserve 78's. The files are available for free download in various file formats but the terms of the copyrights are ambiguous. They haven't de-noised the recordings. I...

    Crazy New Discover Card

Just got a new Discover Card today. I almost chucked it thinking it was one of those false promotional offers! Looks like they have finally thrown the idea of manual imprinting out the window. Now, pretty please get rid of the DAMN magnetic stripe ASAP!!! PS I dare anyone to read my chip from...

    GE C21-G2 Range Info

A user on a Vintage Appliance FB forum is trying to date an older GE range. Here is a photo of the range and the model/serial tag. Anyone have any information? Looking mostly for a date of manufacture and another other wisdom. Sounds like it was more or less unused for most of it's life. It...

    Amazingly Untouched Jetsons Era Home

Just saw this posted by a friend on Facebook. What an amazing time capsule. Asking price seems way too low, perhaps it is because it hasn't been "updated"... http://joekunkel.bairdwarner.com/property/138427643/300-8th-Street-CHICAGO-HEIGHTS-IL-60411

Replacement control Panel Wards (Frigidaire) washer?

I have a buddy of mine that has an older Wards (guess that is redundant now) washer. I just helped him a bit with a fill valve replacement and now the machine is working well again. The control panel labels have gotten badly destroyed over the years and he was questioning if there is any...

    Atari Video Music

This video just popped up on a YouTube feed I follow and it gave me a little flashback. Wondering how many others here had or simply remember these devices from the 70's? I still have one I got second hand in the mid-80's. I'll bet my brother Jeff still has one too. Apparently there is a...

Another Vacuum tube application soon to go solid state?

The LDMOS-FET technology continues to march on. Most radio and many TV transmitters today are being made solid state, and thanks to increases in frequency soon the microwave oven may no longer have a magnetron. It will likely be a few years as Asian magnetron's are darned inexpensive but there...

Free KDS-20 Supurba in the Minneapolis area

This machine was installed in 1982 at a friends parents home and saw little use over the past 30 years. It has been run more regularly over the past 5 years or so. Apparently it has started to "leak" and it has been removed from service. Not sure what the leak was or how major it was. The...
