    Foreign tube radios...

...Those wooden cabinet German radios, other European ,Japanese... :) The German ones seemed to first come our way about 1952 and always proper transformer power supply-sometimes tube rectification, sometimes flat-pack selenium bridge rectifier. Selector switches like to fall apart and spill tiny...

    Bose buys McIntosh (audio equipment)

I thought bose had degraded to a "BPC" brand some time ago... but this notion could be wrong? Last i knew, McIntosh was still at least assembled in USA and premium stuff worthy of analog source.I almost bought a McIntosh receiver about 1992 at a stereo store table sale: noticed the transformer...

    Test driving a '65 Mustang in 1985

white and blue fastback,289 2v 4 spd. Teenager evaluating first car choices :) Car ran pretty decent with that distinctive small block Ford sound with the little skip in the exhaust note.Base v8 with 2 barrel and power robbing rigid fan, no ball of fire but stickshift and only about 3000 lbs...

    AC electric clocks...

AC current motor driven mechanical clocks. I have gathered a decent collection of these over the years,a few are from the '30s and need a spin to start the synchronous motor. Lots of different motor designs and brands before the '90s. Telechron started in the '30s and went to about 1993. I...

    Console stereos: 1958-84

Since we are nicely warmed up on vintage stereo equipment might as well discuss these too: Some of these could be quite high quality and amps over 100w :) Earlier ones,pre~1965,only the phono was stereo. These consoles were common into the late '70s and the newest one i have encountered Was a...

    VMW curb grab

Got a WTW4950XW2,I think it is a 2012-cord and knobs were missing, but looks low usage with no belt dust on pulleys or fan and turns real nice. This is a washplate machine and might be a keeper if an easy fix-next few days might splice a cord on and see what happens...

a WDT720PADB2 . found in lumberyard dumpster: skids were bent up and interior had a greasy film,so no repair evaluation. The wash pump was a dinky 55w directional PM wet rotor and it was shot-bushings badly worn.Might keep the control board since it is probably good.
