    Siemens WR47B2C40 - A review

This is Siemens first A-class dryer, with a completly new base design. TL;DR: If you don't plan on using VarioSpeed all to frequently and can live with 3h drying times, I don't think you'll find a better dryer. The "nerd" review: Quality is - as with the washer - as good as you'd expect. The...

    Siemens WG56B2A41 - a review

So, I had a very extensive wash day with this machine. TL;DR: For most people, this machine would be a great upper end choice. I do think iDos would be worth the money. It is amazingly quiet up to the final spin. It washes very well and rinses just fine. Cycles are on the longer side, but there...

    Bought a new laundry pair

I sold my VZugs last week. The washer is still extraordinary. But the dryer just wasn't up to the same standard - not bad by any means, just no match for such an amazing washer. Main complaint was noise. If you ever heard a compact Whirlpool made dryer with the inverter motor - the VZug used the...

New full size LG heat pump dryer - DLHC4002

Because somebody mentioned LG, I checked their website and found this: https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-dlhc4002w-electric-dryer Appears to be the same dryer with a different control system - base functionality is the same. Personally wasn't a fan of the higher end UI by LG, and this...

    IFA 2025

Have not had the motivation or luck to look for much in advance, so just relied on press releases so far. Official start is Friday, with most press events scheduled for tomorrow. Miele has quietly changed their DW lineup. Even the cheapest model is now class A efficiency with upper end models...

    Hisense dryer recall

Just came across this, only a few days old. Some rather current Hisense dryers have an issue with the wiring to the compressor potentially overheating. Thus, this recall. I doubt many on here have such a model - but better safe than sorry. This goes to the recall pdf from the Hisense UK website.

    Even SQ has their issues

As I always say: SQ is not the be all and end all. If THAT is their service in a rural area, and they don't do the simple things that ANY service department should (like, have basically all small parts - boards, sensors, belts, switches etc. - on hand with every service tech), there's no wonder...

The new EU dryer energy label is rolling out

As of today, you are allowed to display the new label. There is a 14 day period for everybody to switch over the displays, so it'll take a few days for it to show up everywhere. Only exception is for the edge case that the manufacturer of an appliance has gone out of business and can't re-supply...

Siemens "modular" DW - aka compact built-in

First post on the new interface - hope this looks ok in the end... Every few years I go on holiday with my mum. We usually rent out a flat in a costal town on the north sea coast where my family has been going since basically the dawn of time. I would lie if I didn't say I was drawn to this...

LG launched the DD dryer in the EU

Out of the blue, this just showed up, ready to be shipped: https://www.lg.com/de/waeschepflege/trockner/rt18vt/ Now, it's actually kind of impressive. In the Eco rating cycle, the usage is pretty much linear. It's rated at 18kg (close to 40lbs!) so 9kg is a half load. At half load, it's pretty...

Now the Whirlpool Arcelik hybrids are coming

Saw some earlier this year - but now there's just a bunch that's really weird. When Whirlpool aquired Indesit/Hotpoint, they hybridizing was pretty straight forward - laundry mostly Hotpoint, with some Whirlpool holdovers (like the dryer drums). We have examples where a manufacturer churns out...

    Bought a pressure cooker

I guess this is one of these once in a lifetime purchases. Bought it in a WMF Outlet Store and got another 20% on top. Went with the 6,5l/7qt model - you only have a minimal fill quantity of like a cup or 2 and can "only" use 2/3rds - so rather bigger than too small. Have to say - these things...

    TR9XW80889 - Pretty good

At my partners place, we used to have a (pretty old) AEG T59800. It's pretty damn good as dryer - just old, noisy and not that efficient anymore. It's still running, but I shuffled some money around and bought something new. The T59800 is going to a friend of ours. So, a few weeks ago, we had...

So he bought one of those - Freeze-drying

So, that guy bought one of those. Was always curious - would be great for soups, stocks, sauces and herbs. But 3000$ really makes it not worth it...

I went all electric - Hyundai Ioniq 6

I'll start out with saying some stuff straight out: - This car is WAY to expensive, and so is basically any electric car currently on the market to actually recommend. - This car is way to big for what I actually need, but if you want certain criteria to be met with EVs, you just gotta go big. -...

    Canning bolognese in an oven

I tend to make bolognese in bulk, and so I did for my partner. It's really nice to just heat it up, boil some pasta and have a really nice quick meal. I usually freeze it, but my partners freezer really was to full to do that, but we already bought the stuff to make the bolognese. So I read...

    IFA 2024

I usually am pretty early on this yearly tradition post, but I wasn't abled to find much this year - until now. I'll make thise general post and the make responses for each manufacturer as I get to it. I thought this year was going to be boring, but it sure as hell isn't!

These things get worse and worse - Shipping damage

We recently had a whole slew of stuff arriving damaged around here and the things just get worse. Haven't seen such bad transport damage in ages, so I thought I'd post it even though this isn't a usual topic around here. My partner lives in a basically completely uninsulated house. He's the...

A few things I don't agree with, overall though, pretty good!

    A new Electrolux dryer design

I stumbled across this specific dryer months ago. It appeared, then disappeared, then reappeared several times. (This a link to a similar UK unit.) https://www.aeg.co.uk/laundry/laundry/tumble-dryers/heat-pump-tumble-dryer/tr719a4b/ It's not majorly different - it appears to use the same...
