How do i get rid of this nasty fabric softener gunk that is accumulating on the agitator and forming a nasty ring around the tub. Its my 2000 model year Kenmore 70 3 speed. Im also starting to notice a little bit on my new Whirlpool belt drive on the agitator.

The clutch in my 13yr old direct drive Kenmore just went and Im pretty sure it needs a coupler. In the meantime I found a new Belt Drive Whirlpool on sale at HD for 317 dollars. I would say that im pretty happy with it. You have to load the heaviest items at the bottom of the basket first...
