What can you tell me about this Hotpoint dryer?

At our church's summer camp, we have this dryer that works amazingly well for its age. What can you tell me about it? I have attached a picture of the console as well as the model and serial number plate.

    Can anyone identify the oven?

Can anyone venture a guess as to what make oven this is?

Check out the Hotpoint dryer in use at our local campsite

Can someone tell me a bit about it and perhaps an age? It looks like it could be a Silhouette, but it doesn't say anywhere on the panel. It's incredibly quiet, and dries fast!

Well, the 8-year old Calypso died the other day...So here's my new daily driver:

This actually was at the request of my wife... I also found out why it wasn't going into 1010 Rapidry Spin, the off-balance switch was stuck! It's amazing, the 1967 Frigidaire WCIL outlasts the 2003 Kenmore. I love it!

1967 Frigidaire Custom Imperial won't Rapidry

So, I'm guessing it's either the timer or the solenoid. Am I to assume I should be seeing 120V at the solenoid when it should be engaging?

They are old, tall, grey and loud (just like me)

I just acquired a pair of Shure Vocal Master speaker columns! For you musicians out there, you know the old saying..."if you never sang through Vocal Masters, you weren't in a garage band." They are in remarkably good shape for being 33 years old, just needed a bit of cleaning up. I ran my...

Need to replace our Amana Dryer

can someone offer their opinion on the Frigidaire FRG5714KW (Gas model)? Our Amana (electric) is 14 years old and still runs, but natural gas is more energy efficient. Am I making a good choice? Dave http://www.frigidaire.com/products/home-appliances/dryers/frg5714kw

    Vintage Appliance Olympics

I say, in the spirit of the Olympics, we should create our own Olympic games. Just think of some of the events we could have? To name a few.... 1) removing and replacing bellows clamps 2) dislodging a stuck Maytag Agitator 3) the ultimate "BobLoad" Instead of medals, we could hand out painted...

    Frigidaire Rollermatic Pump Housing

Does anyone out there have the lower pump housing for a 1967 WCIL? The part number is 7538340. This is the housing that has what appears to be a vacuum break-style reservoir. TrainGuy said he had one early last year and was going to send one, but he has been unreachable. Thanks guys. Dave

A really nice article on Westinghouse

Here is an article entitled "Who Killed Westinghouse?" It was in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, and focuses on Donald Burnham, the CEO from 1963 to 1968. http://www.post-gazette.com/westinghouse/chapter1.asp

    P.O.D. 10/30/09

Wow, what a nicely designed control panel on that machine! I love how elegant the dials are. Does anyone have one of these machines? The filter looks similar to a Norge "basket-type" filter. What year would this be from? Dave

'67 Frigidaire Custom Imperial Pump Housing

Would anyone have, or know where I could find the lower pump housing (black plastic)? I believe the Frigidaire part number is #7538340. Mine broke at the point where the support bracket (which connects to the outer tub via a spring) attaches with a screw. I tried J-B Weld with no success. Too...

    POD 8/18/09

Childhood Memories!!! That is the very dishwasher my parents had when I was growing up! I still have the SilverShower which I use as a tool tote. What year is that model from? I'm gonna guess between 1966 and 1969. Am I correct? Dave

    GE Combination Refrigerator

Attached are some pictures of my parent's fridge which was retired to the laundryroom as a soda fridge when they remodeled the kitchen back in 1980. I think they bought it in 1959 from Chiarelli Brothers in Reading. I'll try to get the model and serial number if you all need it.

I know you all don't know me very well, but.....

I lost my father on Tuesday to Parkinson's disease. He was battling this for 5 years and Pneumonia set in. The reason I'm sharing this with you is because if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't know half as much about mechanical things as I do. Anytime anything broke, he would fix it with me by his...

    It Is Done.......

First and foremost, I want to extend a HUGE thank you to our Rich (TrainGuy). He was gratious enough to send me a new pump seal and tub seal. I found a motor start switch on eBay for $9.00 and within a day of work, my 1967 WCIL is thumping away like new. Now for the pictures: First what we...

Well, now it has turned into a restoration project....

Now that the motor problem has been solved, and the machine is in a state of disassembly.....I decided to do a full bore restore. While the tub was out I figured I'd give it a bit of a cleanup:

Well, I could just vomit....... (davy1063's WCIL)

I finally got the nut off, got the mechanism out perfectly. That’s the good news. Now the bad.... The motor is shot. Period I tested the unit out of the washer. It looks like the motor was worked on before due to the scoring on the heads of the screws. I looked at the start switch on top of...
