    Penncrest!

While I have always had a deep appreciation for Sears in general, and the Kenmore appliance line in particular, The Sears (Roper) electric range knockoff of the Fridgdaire Flair finally exhausted my patience. So today I rescued a JC Penney Penncrest (General Electric) 30" double oven stove in -...

    FREE brochures and manuals

I'm trying to pare down some of my collection of stuff, and have a whole load of appliance manuals that I would be happy to pass along to other appliance fans. I'd like to get rid of the whole bunch, but am open to splitting it up. Range Manuals GE Stove manual Lots of Washer/Dryer manuals...

    Tender-Matic instructions

I've had several Frigidaire Flairs through the years, and the one I now have in my kitchen has the "tender-manic" feature. I remember hearing that these were gimmicky and usually broke down quickly, so I never thought much about it, but when I was cleaning up tonight, I accidentally hit the...

    Super Salton power cord

I found this crazy huge Salton warming tray at the Goodwill the other day and of course I had to have it, but it doesn't take a standard Salton cord, nor does it take the cord for a salton cart. Has anyone any experience in this area?

Avocado Refrigerator needs freon - can that be done?

The local salvage store has had this refrigerator forever, for about $300. Someone bought it but returned it because it "didn't get cold enough". They've offered to let me have it for free, but can an old refrigertor be recharged?

    Versatonic

Hello there, I saw an ad for a 30" double oven range. It didn't list a brand, but it said it was "versatonic". I did a search, and the only thing I could find was a reference to microwave cooking. Is the upper oven a microwave?

Maytag washer not rinsing on regular

So, I got the dryer (mostly) fixed and now the washer is misbehaving. On the regular cycle, it no longer rinses or drains, but it works fine on Permanent Press. Any ideas? On the other hand, its leaking issue seems to have disappeared......

    Kenmore (Roper) stove thermostat calibration

My hobby project is this 1960’s Kenmore electric range (probably made by Roper). The burners all work, but the upper oven thermostat is wildly out of calibration. I’m used to calibrating the oven thermostats on Frigidaire ovens, but this one mystifies me. The only way to get to the thermostat...

Maytag HDE 806 Dryer no longer heating

My beloved Harvest Gold Maytag dryer has stopped heating! Do they still make parts for this model? Anything I should try before calling the repair guy (who is based out of the next town over, so there’s a hefty trip charge) It tumbles like a champ, just no heat.

Kenmore late 60’s oven door hinge.

I have a Frigidaire Flair knock-off branded as Kenmore, manufacturer unknown (I’ve heard maybe Roper?) It’s cute, and works for my purposes, but the lower oven isn’t seated correctly (see pics). Does anyone have any info on these?

    Self-healing Maytags?

We got this set of Maytags a free years back from some ditzy lady in Seattle who couldn't understand why we would want them, and couldn't understand why the dryer had no filter. We got them for free, and she even helped us load them on the truck. We put them in our vacation home where they...

    Hotpoint Hallmark Base Separation

Hello there, I am helping a friend with his Hotpoint Hallmark (which was Hotpoint's version of the Frigidaire Flair) and I can't for the life of me figure out how the range separates from the base. The flair is very straightforward - there are four big bolts that anchor the stove to the base...

    Sunbeam Appliance Center knobs

I've had this Sunbeam Appliance Center for years, and I've recently taken an interest in the timed outlet feature, which works like a champ. However, as you can see, It's missing two knobs, which means that I have to use a pliers to set other controls, which can't be good for it. Anyone have a...

    Electric Clock with mechanical chimes

I recently picked up an electric grand-something clock (Father? Mother? who knows). It's unique in that is has a mechanical chime mechanism, which is something I haven't seen. The trouble is that the chimes are seriously out of sync, chiming about five minutes after the time they should chime...

    Color Matching

Hello there, Is historical archive or anything on GE Appliance Colors? I have a KitchenAid/Hobart dishwasher that I would like to have painted to match a 70's era Avocado GE Refrigerator. I was able to match a GE Yellow color once, by taking a drawer from a GE metal kitchen cabinet to...

    Avocado KitchenAid leak disaster :-)

So I finally got around to booking up the portable KA dishwasher (in Avocado!) it has a rather huge leak on the right hand side of the upper rack. It makes me think there’s a hose or plug missing. Any ideas?

Maytag A-806 leaking from bottom of tub

Hello there, Our Maytag A-806 hat started to leak. I took the front off, and it is coming from the bottom of the tub. We’re about 2 hours from the nearest repair service, and I’m afraid they’re going to tell me we need a new machine. Any thoughts on what may be causing this leak, and how hard...

    Presto Control Master

Hi There, I have a Presto Control Master with timer. (somewhat rare and visually spectacular, if one is into that sort of thing) Recently the thermostatic control dial has become very hard to move. Is there a way to clean the innards, or does that just happen when these controls start to fail?

    KitchenAid KDC-59 leaking

Hello everybody, I found a Hobart era KitchenAid KDC-59 portable dishwasher (in Avocado!) hooked it up to test it, and it promptly leaked all over the floor. Any ideas what may be going on?

    Vintage Sears Electric Fireplace

Hi There, This is definitely an oddity, but I'm hoping someone out there might have some advice. We have a Sears fake fireplace from the 1960's. It's super cute, made to look like a stone fireplace in a suburban home of that era. It has a built-in fake log, with the spinning disk to make it...
