Bendix 7142A washing machine for parts/restoration

While staying in Wiltshire, I came across a derelict building containing a 7142A Autowasher Deluxe (along with a Flatley electric clothes airer and a Newhome Cabaret gas cooker. The owners of the building have, according to a neighbour, left the place to rot for over 30 years. I have accordingly...

Identify these 1960s machines? Possibly EASY?

Found this 1965-vintage advert on Flickr, no identification of the washer and dryer pair was given. I THINK that the text on the machines says "EASY", but the resolution is too low to tell, unfortunately... http://https//www.flickr.com/photos/peppermint_kiss_kiss/5869640775/in/faves-wpnschick/

    Wascomat Crossover 27" commercial-grade front-loader

Thought this might be of some interest, as I've not heard about it before. People complain about the build quality of Electrolux domestic front-loaders, but it looks like they will sell this commercial-grade version to domestic customers, and hopefully it'll prove durable in a domestic...

    POD 05/04/2018 - Easy Automatic washer-dryer

I've also seen adverts for Easy combos under the "Combomatic" name - does this predate them? "Vibration-free", but it's a hard-mount... what's the spin speed, 200rpm? Bet they just weren't up to paying Bendix's patent license fees... Do any Easy combos survive now?

    POD 13/03/2018 - Blackstone stainless-tub automatic washer & matching dryer & ironer

Always liked the look of these, with the big round control knobs and stainless steel panel & tub. Anyone got any pictures of the dryers? There are very few around, and I'd be interested to see a drum shot.

    POD 22/02/2018 - Frigidaire 1959 "Queen's Ransom" "Jubilee Sweepstakes"

I do like the look of the Frigidaire appliances of this era. Why the aforementioned wording, though? I initially assumed it had to be some kind of UK royal connection, aimed at Anglophile Americans, but 1959 was a mere 7 years into QE2's ongoing reign...

    POD 18/02/2018 - Frigidaire Rollermatic Jet-Action washer

Presumably this is part of the Unimatic series? Vertical agitation? How does the machine actually propel the agitator? I might guess at a motor driving a cam continuously, with a second motor for the spin? I know absolutely nothing about these, except that I think they look nice.

POD 13/02/2018 - Lady Kenmore Dual-Action vs competitors bib-cleaning comparison

One wonders what the competitors are? Brand B looks like a GE, Brand C a Maytag? Not sure what Brand A is - the only thing I can think of is Whirlpool, but then given WP made the Kenmore too, I'm not sure they'd appreciate Sears advertising against them!

POD 10/02/2018 Westinghouse Heavy Duty Multi-Speed Laundromat straight-front F/L & High Speed dryer

These look like quite handsome machines, albeit the elliptical window on the washer bothers my OCD! I seem to recall reading that few survive because they were poorly built, most rusting away... what was the maximum spin speed? I'm guessing it wasn't about to bother Frigidaire. Presumably these...

POD 07/02/2018 - Norge Dispensomat washer & dryer

Handsome-looking machines - do any of these survive? The Dispensomat feature was so ahead of its time. Did these Norge washers have the same rather brutal agitation as the simpler machines featured in the POD back on the 17th January? Also, when were these machines in production?

    POD 05/02/2018 - RCA Whirlpool EA-16 top-loader

I'm guessing late 50s/early 60s here? 29" wide, only 25.5" deep - what's all that width doing, then?! Looks like a bottom-of-the-line machine, single-speed, no controls whatsoever other than the timer. Yet it mentions that the washer will fill with water (at the) temperature selected, but I...

    POD 02/02/2018 - Sears Kenmore 11651 centre-dial 2-speed washer & 61651 dryer

Handsome looking machines, these - am I right in guessing probably mid-late 1970s build date for these? They'd obviously ditched the "Lady Kenmore" marketing by this point. No heated rinse option, I notice - so presumably this is a middle-of-the-line machine?

POD 01/02/2018 - Bendix Tumble Agitator front-load washer

I'm guessing this is the same thing as the Gyramatic? 30" wide, soft-mount, etc? Certainly looks much the same as chestermikeuk's Gyramatic. Why America didn't buy far more of these instead of the crude top-loaders Bendix was trying to move on from...

    POD 26/01/2018 - Philco-Bendix W-284N 2-speed TL, Duomatic & DE-624 "Wrinkle-Free" dryer

I'm guessing this must be from around 1957? I think I read that '58 was the last year of the 36" Duomatic before the new narrow-body machine replaced it. Clearly the 30" Gyramatic front-load washer must have been discontinued by this point, at least in the US market. Does anyone know what the...

POD 17/01/2018 - Norge washer, gas dryer & water heater

I think I've seen this picture or a similar one before. I understand Norge were not generally viewed as being of the finest quality? The machines look handsome enough. Any survivors?

POD 09/01/2018 - Sexist Kenmore advert

You'd never get away with such patronisingly discriminatory advertising today, thank goodness. Still, the dryer itself seems to have several features which might be considered ahead of its time, or otherwise sensible and practical (e.g. the drop-down load door!).

    The White House...

Well, elsewhere on this forum, there's been enough discussion of politics. What I was reflecting on the other day, along with how funny it would be if Sheldon Whitehouse became President, simply for the amusement in the media having to use (or avoid) the term "the Whitehouse White House", was...

    P.O.D. 21/12/2017 - Bendix Gyromatic (c.1953?)

Never seen one of these before, am I right in suggesting it's from circa 1953, just before the round-door "Gyramatic" (sic) was introduced? Was this a sprung soft-mount like the later machines? Known dimensions? Looks like the control panel is on the door, like the modern Hotpoint Aqualtis.

    POD 01/12/2017 - Bendix 30" Tumble Action soft-mount washer

I'm guessing this is essentially a Duomatic, slimmed down six inches and deprived of the drying side? There is a very similar machine in the collection of "chestermikeuk", I believe badged as a Gyramatic. His has no heater, apparently, and spins at 600rpm. I wonder why these spun at 525rpm when...

    POD 21/11/2017 ?

Did anyone see it? I was away from the computer all day. Where's Bruce Lucenta when you need him...
