Any Interest in Vintage DE409/similar parts?

I have come to realize I probably have more parts for my DE409 (in storage) than I will ever live to use. I've got multiple complete new doors with all trim in various colors and other things. Motor mounts, heating coils, NOS timer motors, etc. Would it be worth trying to sell some or should...

Any Interest in old Sunray range?

I have an old Sunray propane range, looks probably mid-70s-early-80s, from a relative who passed. Is there any interest in these, or do I haul it out for the scrap man? It's tan/dark brown

WTS: Speed Queen TC5 Washer/Electric Dryer boxed set

I am thinking about selling the matched set of Speed Queen classic appliances I bought a few months ago. They are new in the box and were registered for the 10-year warranty during the window for it. I paid over $1900. Considering offers. South-central PA area. Despair has set in; I doubt...

Picked up a free set over the weekend

Picked up a free working GE Profile dryer and a Whirlpool top load washer. What did I get, anything to watch? Probably 10-15 year old units. Backstory: Getting divorced and figured free appliances are free appliances!

Why do frontloaders use so much less water?

Was reading today about water usage; my Maytag Centennial TL probably uses around 19 gallons on a regular load. There is a Whirlpool FL that uses 7 gallons. Whats the big difference? Are FL any good? Harder to work on? I always liked the TLs for ease of maintenance.

What Spares to Keep for GE Electric Range

I have an early 1990s GE electric Range, a JGP24 model, with a manual clock. Wanting to keep the thing forever and am wondering what spares to get? I did pick up two oven thermostats because they are the main component which could go bad and are discontinued/hard to find. Everything else...

    Parting Out Maytag DG7500 Dryer

I may be parting out a DG7500 Maytag gas dryer for my grandmother. Her pilot light won't stay lit so she is calling for service and if they can't fix I will have it. It is a BZ serial 1990 model in good shape used only by two elderly folks since new.

What would the New Price for a Maytag DE409 have been?

Late 78 or early 1979, just wondering what one would have cost new.

    Parting Out Maytag DE712 Dryer

I am picking up a working DE712 Electric dryer this weekend for parts. Everything in the cabinet will fit my DE409, but the controls, chime, etc are good and won't fit. Anyone need these? Price is CHEAP, whatever you want. I am thrilled to get the internal parts and just don't want to see...

Why so much hate for Maytag Centennials?

Got a MVWC425BW Centennial washer at Home Depot for $399 with a $100 rebate from the electric company when we moved in 2014. It has been a great unit. When I search it, I see a lot of angry 1 star reviews. Heck, it is at 2 stars on Amazon, even though it is NLA. What is the beef with these...

Found a Great Parts Site for Old Stuff

Found a great site for spares in my DE409 search. These guys are a commercial laundry place in Cherry Hill NJ that has a back stock of parts they no longer need at GREAT prices. I got some insulators for my heating element - normally $12-20 new, for less than a dollar each! Also a complete...

    Opinions on Amana NEDC4655EW1 Dryer

Just bought one of these. Seems efficient and old-fashioned and should last a long time. I don't like the lint filter up top but that seems to be most of them anymore. It was on closeout at Home Depot and I could pick it up that day which was nice. Any thoughts?

What Switch Starts the DE409 dryer?

The DE409 is push to start which is integral to the timer motor. My question is, what switch actually starts it? I have several OEM NOS timer motors but no "start swich" per se as a backup. Is it the whole timer assembly that does the push-in to start from the single crystal knob that...
