    Mystery Dishwasher

Hi Gang.I know someone here will know. A buddy of mine grew up in the 1960s with a dishwasher he now cannot remember the brand, and the pic from around 1966ish is blurry. The control panel is silvery with four square white buttons to the left, a multicolored dial to the right, and a swing latch on...

    Clays of Our Lives

OK,what to do? Are there ANY powders that don't use zeolites, aluminosilicates, or sodium carbonate which all leave or cause "crusty" deposits in the washer in hard water?

    Maytag LDE-303

My friend bought a used Maytag LDE-303 dryer that sqeaked massively after 3 weeks of use. What might it be?

Is the "18" R-E-A-L-L-Y all that?

Is the KitchenAid KD-18 series truly the best ever? I think they look great, but someone once said on here about 7 years ago- I think it was Tom Turbomatic-that the way they drained was, in essence-a step backwards. Plus, that "upper level power wash" middle wash arm didn't even get NEAR the...

Looking For A "Last Generation" Dial Neptune

My landlord has a MayNorge washer with bearings on the fritz! He would like to convert to a Neptune dial and pushbutton front loader to match the dryer which has a very similar control panel. Not the earliest models with thier moldy gasket, but the later ones that corrected that! Thanks guys!

The Very Best Combo Ever In History!!

What is THE very best combo in history? Me thinks it is the 1958 Bendix DuoMatic! This should be interesting, thanks!

Can you be SURE if it's Westinghouse?

Alright, how many of you read that early 70s appliance book that said best made washer regardless of price-Westinghouse front loader and best made top loader-Maytag? The author touted the Westinghouse as simplistic and efficient more than ANY other. Do you agree or disagree and why? Thanks!

    Maytag Madness

My friends have a Maytag model MAV6000AWW washer that developed great loudness, mostly on the spin, like a jet plane sound about a year ago, after their teens washed tennies in it? What's up with that?

    Too much foama from ROMA!

Was I surprised! Phosphated ROMA powder does NOT fully dissolve even in hot water. I use a Maypool commercial coin op in our condo and I don't overload. I saw chunks of it in the rinse water. After much experimentation, I realize it really won't fully dissolve!Back to liquids! Besides,it's too...

    Back to the Phosphate Batcave!

Sorry gang, the nonphosphate Finish powder that I raved about and was working well has by now, about a month later slowly caused chalky residues on the dishes. I will go over to Gordon Food Services down the street and get institutional Cascade powder, which is chlorinated and phosphated, much...

Wow! Cascade, I am FINISHed with you!

I am supremely surprised! Ran out of PHOSPHATED Cascade Complete pacs, and now bought Finish powder without phosphates just for kicks. It works far better, as the dishes now sparkle and glisten in a way that Cascade could not acheive. And the water here is quite hard,. No chalky residue as Sun...

    What is the scoop...

...on towers in dishwasher? Are there ANY that can somehow clean the undersides of all items in the top rack even when the bottom rack has pots and large bowls on it? Or can only a full sized-full width spray arm under the top rack do it?Anyone's own experience tell the story?

    Scrub the Rubadubdub!

Tell me,does the thick rubber gasket on the old Westinghouse and White-Westinghouse tumbler washers itself get washed as the cycle goes on? If dirty clothes are being pushed in to load and "scrape" against that gasket, hopefully the now "contaminated" gasket gets cleansed. Thanks experts!

    The Power Shower Anti-Giblet-Niblet Thang

Do Power Showers,Overhead Constant Rinses and the like REALLY help with foo-foos utop the upper rack items? Seems the average 3 GPM force wouldn't be enough to do diddly squat. And if the machine is unfiltered, the shower itself would spit out particles, would it not ?

    Waste King kills KitchenAid

I know I may get crucified here for my blasphemy, but I love WK dishwashers far more than KAs. Why? Because their straight-thru 60 GPM wash action is better, they hold more, they clean that well even with no filter, they dry better with no fan, they are not common ,they have thicker racks with...

Why does everyone think Westinghouse is so great?

Well.the tradition starts again. I just had to ask. Westinghouse appliances were wonderful, and yes of course were fun,but began to cheapen in about the mid 1970s,then really went to hell when WCI (you know Woo-cee)took them over.

    The KD-19 that wasn't a KD-19

Alright. It seems to me that the KD-19 is liked the least of all Hobart machines. Who has therefore taken one and surgically installed a heater-blower assembly on it and tinkered with the timer to rearrange when it preheats the water. It does have the longer wash arm not on the KD-18,so there's a...

The Tim Allen Home Improvement Combo

Has anyone, somehow, ever thought of modifying one of those wimpy spinning combos to greatly ramp up the spin? Perhaps a smaller pulley? Of course how to modify the suspension system or lack thereof would also come into play.

Why does everyone think Whirlpool is so great?

Please forgive me. I couldn't resist. I know I love the 50s Whirlys and the 60s,even some of the 70s, but I dunno after that. BTW, Rickr, your Whirlpool is fabulous.

Why does everyone think GE is so great?

Well I'm on a roll. Why GE? We had one in my teen years, standard capacity, ramped activator, Mini Basket. I loved that Mini-Basket and used it lots. The ramped tator was great, far better than the lousy straight vane GE had for awhile. But boy, did it sometimes shake, rattle and roll on spin...
