    My LG is .... Sick

My LG front-loader (8yrs old) will not drain. It attempts to drain, but then can't progress through the cycle because it knows it still has too much water in it to spin. Any suggestions as to where to start??? I hate to put her on the curb ... she has been a trooper ... came through 2 feet of...

    Frigidaire Flair

On Craigslist in Mississippi; pics look great ... wish I had room for it, but someone will treasure this. You may have to copy and paste to get to it as I am not too computer saavy. Hope you guys are all doing well!! Todd http://neworleans.craigslist.org/app/2207938124.html...

    Front Load Recirculation

I know that my LG recirculates the water, but do any of the other front loaders do that? While I am not thrilled with the water level in my machine, I think that the strong recirculation spray does help it to get such good results.

    Calypso Lid Switch

I know this has been addressed before, but I missed it. Is it possible to use a magnet to be able to see the wash action on a calypso or do you have to bypass the lid switch? Thanks.

    Solid tubs

Who was the last company to use a sold tub on their machines? Who was the first to start using plastic outer tubs on their machines? I know that some used a porcelin inner tub, but plastic outer tub. Inquiring minds want to know? Todd

    Portable or Permanent

The only skinny mini machines that I have ever seen in person is the stack unit. Were the single units made to use as portable machines or hooked up as regular machines? They were quite thin with limited capacity when compared to other standard machines on the market at that time. Todd

    Front Loader

I may be in the wrong forum here, but it would only be a year or two off, so bear with me. In the mid to late 1980's, Sears sold a small front loader for a short time. It was not marketed as portable; it was intended to be permanently hooked up. This was years before they started selling their...

    Sound level

It seems to me that the Frigidaire washers were/are always louder than other machines. Did the noise level vary much each time they changed design (unimatic, multimatic, rollermatic)? Which is the quietest? What's your input? Todd

    Apex

I have seen the POD on the Apex and I know that it is Robert's dream machine. Does anyone have any other literature or info other than that POD that we see every so often? This machine fascinates me because I truly cannot picture the wash action in my head ... sorry to sound dumb, but inquiring...

    Wedding

Since I have met so many good friends through the club, I wanted to share with you guys that my partner and I (10 years) got married in San Diego. Attached is the link to our short slide show. Take care friends in Applianceville...

    Old Sears washer

I seem to remember (many years back) that Sears sold some type of twin tub washer. Did that exist, or am I confused? If so, was it just a rebadged Hoover? Happy Mardi Gras! Todd

    Dryer Venting Question

Hi folks! Pardon my stupidity, but I know that you all are a good reference source for me. In a condo development that I am marketing, they did not allow for dryer venting. Most units have a small closet .. we started with the Ariston stack sets but had to pull them out due to many problems. We...

    Ariston Dryers (USA)

In a condo development that we are doing, we had to go with ventless dryers, so the developer chose the Ariston stack set with the condensor dryer. Washers all did fine, but four of the five dryers started having problems within the first three months ... loud as hell! We ended up pulling the...

    POD ... that's it

Bob, you are correct, the Philco POD is the machine that I just got ... its got that cute blue hat on top of the agitator column. I started working on the cabinet and the mechanicals are rusty, but working. Todd

Its' Alive ... and home now, too!

After patiently waiting, we were finally able to pick up the Philco washer yesterday evening. She has considerable rust on the lower cabinet ... 35 years ago they put her on a porch and covered her with blankets & plastic (which protected the top), but the rust really got to the exterior lower...

    Another find

Hello folks. A distant relative passed away two years ago. She moved from the city to the country (about 36 years ago) and did not have hookups at the country house. For years, she would wash clothes in the bath tub while the washer was on the back porch covered with thick plastic and duct tape...

    1-18 Repair

I picked up a 1-18 a while back, but didn't have room for it and not much time to tinker with it, so it ended up in my dad's garage. We knew that it needed a belt once we took the front off .. shredded belt was still barely hanging on. My dad found a belt to fit, so he put it on today ... now it...

    Old Sears

I seem to recall (many years ago) that Sears sold some type of twin-tub portable washer. Am I correct, or is age catching up with me? I also recall (for one year only), Sears had a small front-loader (1984 I think) ... anyone else recall that? Thanks for the info. Todd

    Solid tubs

Hi folks. This may have been discussed before, but I don't recall it. Of the older (vintage) washers, which ones used the cabinet as an outer tub instead of the typical outer tub? Was there an advantage or disadvantage when the cabinet was the actual outer tub? Thanks for the info. Todd

    POD 7/11/07 Agitator

In today's POD for the "thrifty" Frigidaire, the agitator looks different .. anyone have a picture of this one? Todd
