    GE Presents: Quiet Trash - 1969 - 16mm Film

With all the compactor talk lately it seemed fitting to get this one on the film scan list. GE makes a pitch for their version of the trash compactor, circa 1969. Note, this film had gone completely red but I was able to pull a little color out. Still fun to watch, though.

    7000 Tomorrows - WP & The 1964 World's Fair - 16mm

This week, we go Back to The Future to see what life might be like in 1985 from the vantage of Whirlpool's 1964 World's Fair exhibit. Not just appliances, WP had numerous government contracts at the time in other interests, such as defense, space and even ag. Their Tectrol division was...

1961 GE Combination W/D For Sale

I’m needing to make a little room, so this 1961 GE Combo must go. Figured I’d offer it here before the usual places. I bought this from Kevin almost 10 years ago now and in that time replaced hoses and brought it up to snuff. It has not had a mechanical restoration but does wash and dry as it...

Maytag Presents: The Los Angeles Story - 16mm Film

This week's special is “The Los Angeles Story”. This marketing film was put together to give Maytag dealers’ a little shot in the arm on the rollout of the new Highlander models in glamorous LA. Wouldn’t it be great to find one of those motorized displays stashed in a store attic?

    Friday Film Bonus: KitchenAid 1961

I just scanned some fun 30 second TV ads for KitchenAid's new KD-14 series, with "king size capacity". Sorry for the corner watermark, my vids have been growing legs lately. Despite the rather avante garde control panel (let's work a rhombus in here), I actually really like these. Get the...

Maytag Presents: The Story of Clothes Drying - 16mm Film

This week's film is from Maytag, pushing the advantages of *fully-automatic* clothes drying with their new Halo of Heat model with electronic sensing. I believe that puts this film right around 1960. Run time is approximately 5 minutes.

    Challenge C-WD - The 1957 Kenmore Turbo-Matic - 16mm Film

New this week from The Appliance Archive, it's the story of the 1957 Kenmore Turbo-Matic washer/dryer. I have a hunch Whirlpool wasn't waiting around for Sears to pitch the idea to them, but it's still a fun plot. If you're a Kenmore fan, it doesn't get much better than this.

The Today Show w/ Fred Maytag II - March 1954 - 16mm Film

Well, it looks like last week’s film fizzled, so how about a crossover: classic television -and- Maytag. We’ve got a clip from the Today Show with Dave Garroway and Fred II touting Maytag’s automatic with Gyrafoam action. This was a kinescope print but transferred pretty well.

    This Week: Whirlpool Jingles

Instead of a film this week, I've put together a few vintage 30 sec radio jingles for Whirlpool Corp, along with some period photos. And an open-invitation to anyone who has the odd appliance film, if you can get it to me, I'm happy to digitize and upload it to The Appliance Archive. Enjoy!

    Maytag's Tale of a Tub - 16mm Film - 1958

This week's film takes us to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry to see Maytag's exhibit on the history of home laundering..."The Tale of A Tub". No doubt some of you are familiar with the exhibit which ran for several years. I believe it also saw a late 60's update, but haven't found...

    9-Millionth Maytag Washer - 16mm Film

For the Maytag fans, I've just finished digitizing and uploading a short 16mm film that was shot by a local news station to commemorate the 9,000,000 MT Washer back in 1955. It's a bit grainy, but I didn't want to get carried away over-correcting things. Anyway, neat stuff!

    WANTED: 1960/61 Frigidaire Bake Element

Hey guys, I'm looking for a replacement bake element for my 1960 Frigidaire 30" freestanding range; looks like I used my spare previously. The parts catalog shows 6564003 (3kw) and 7531340 (2700w) as compatible. The elements for the 40", besides being too narrow, are also too deep; go figure...
