Here's one I know you guys have been waiting for. RCA-Whirlpool introduces The Last Word in combination washer-dryers...the 1961 Ultimatic.

With all the compactor talk lately it seemed fitting to get this one on the film scan list. GE makes a pitch for their version of the trash compactor, circa 1969. Note, this film had gone completely red but I was able to pull a little color out. Still fun to watch, though.

New this week from The Appliance Archive, it's the story of the 1957 Kenmore Turbo-Matic washer/dryer. I have a hunch Whirlpool wasn't waiting around for Sears to pitch the idea to them, but it's still a fun plot. If you're a Kenmore fan, it doesn't get much better than this.

Well, it looks like last week’s film fizzled, so how about a crossover: classic television -and- Maytag. We’ve got a clip from the Today Show with Dave Garroway and Fred II touting Maytag’s automatic with Gyrafoam action. This was a kinescope print but transferred pretty well.

For the Maytag fans, I've just finished digitizing and uploading a short 16mm film that was shot by a local news station to commemorate the 9,000,000 MT Washer back in 1955. It's a bit grainy, but I didn't want to get carried away over-correcting things. Anyway, neat stuff!

Hey guys, I'm looking for a replacement bake element for my 1960 Frigidaire 30" freestanding range; looks like I used my spare previously. The parts catalog shows 6564003 (3kw) and 7531340 (2700w) as compatible. The elements for the 40", besides being too narrow, are also too deep; go figure...
